Exceptional.
I am very happy with the care my family receives from Dr. Maynard. He listens to all concerns we may have and gives us excellent practical advice. He is very personable, our medical visits are pleasant and thorough. He is exceptionally good with our adult son who has Down Syndrome. I am very diligent at keeping abreast of all new information about Down Syndrome and Dr. Maynard seems to do the same. If he hasn't heard of something I’ve mentioned to him, he looks into it. His nurse Holly is wonderful and extremely helpful. She also enjoys our unique son and his antics. I couldn't be happier with Dr Maynard and Holly - they make a great team!

I could not be more disappointed with the level of service and care I received as an existing patient of Dr. Maynard. In December, I returned home after a Christmas holiday with family and friends with significant flu/cold/COVID symptoms. I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I was happy to be able to get an appointment with the nurse practitioner upon my return. He ran a rapid COVID test, which was negative, and told me I should "wait out" my symptoms. He told me, unequivocally, that I did not have COVID and did not have a breakthrough case. I found out later from the ISU Health Center that the rapid tests are 40% false negative. My symptoms have since intensified and I am concerned about how I should treat them. I left a message for Dr. Maynard's nurse on Monday (three days ago) and have yet to hear anything from the nurse or Dr. Maynard. This seems incredibly negligent to me. I will be looking for another primary care provider.

I was a new patient to Dr. Maynard. I went for my annual exam 2 years in a row. I felt like he was rushing through my appointment. He dismissed my concerns as being age related (which turned out not to be true). One of them is a serious condition that I could have had a 2 year head start on if he had done his due diligence. He never suggested any further testing to investigate my issues. He also provided incorrect information regarding the frequency of standard annual exams.

I would not recommend this Dr. for anything. My father was going to him for general care. He had a aortic valve replacement in April. In October he went to Maynard because he had shortness of breath. They told him he had pneumonia. Turns out he had a heart attack not pneumonia. Because they didn't consider his heart conditions he went without care for his heart attack and now his heart has been very damaged. He didn't find out about the heart attack until the week before Thanksgiving. I would think that as a heart patient, his heart would have been the first thing to check when he was having breathing problems.

Dr. Maynard is an excellent primary care physician who has been instrumental in helping me maintain my health. He has excellent patient communication skills, always explaining things at my level and always expresses a personal level of concern that makes you feel well cared for. Dr. Maynard likely saved my life when during a routine physical he discovered polyps that the "big box" colonoscopy group had just missed! Dr. Maynard consistently provides that exceptional level of health care we need.

He has been our doctor over 20 years and I feel very comfortable with him in all facets of medical concerns. He is personable, caring and when he isn't able to handle the medical concern himself , he has made very good recommendations.
