Waiting for hip surgery
Dr. Kollmorgen did a total hip replacement on me because of a car accident six years ago. Two years ago I began to have pain in that hip replacement so my primary care physician sent me to Dr. Kollmorgen to see what he thought might be happening. The hip replacement he did began to come loose and five months later I could not get out of bed and walk. I’ve been on crutches and in a wheelchair for a year and a half. They finally scheduled a surgery date for July 7 and I was just informed this morning that they changed that date to October something after rescheduling me twice before. If Dr. Cole Morgan doesn’t want to do the surgery and fix his mistake from the first surgery he should just tell me instead of putting me off all these times.

Dr. repeatedly shoved his finger in already irritated tendon when he could see injury on MRI. I can understand doing this once to determine flexibility or movement issues, but then his assistant, X-ray tech and on every visit. I leave his office hurting more than when I arrived. The first visit he was reassuring me that he would get me better, and by the last visit it was I’m so sorry there’s nothing I can do except make sure you have painkillers and this will never heal. Not exactly what I want to hear from a doctor or the condition to leave in more pain than I when I arrived. He did nothing for me.

I tore one of my three hamstrings clean off the bone while water skiing and needed it repaired. I was referred to Dr. Kollmorgen. As others have stated I was surprised by how young he looked ... but good for him! We should all take such good care of ourselves. I would not let anyone cut into me without doing some asking around and he received excellent reviews by other medical professionals I know. My leg is doing great and I feel fortunate that I didn't have to travel to LA or SF for this surgery.

I had a really unpleasant experience at my office visit with this physician. I saw him because he refers to himself as a hip preservationist. My hip discomfort is not severe but I was interested in preventive measures if there were any. After a fifty minute wait in a near empty waiting room, I was seen and evaluated by his PA instead of him, and offered all the standard options, nothing preventive. Then he breezed in and asked me what he can do for me in a manner that I experienced as I’m wasting his time. When I asked him about preservation, I was told nothing can be done after arthritis has set in, which was my situation. Bad news, but I can deal with bad news. It’s his attitude that I found off putting. A bit cocky and a lot insensitive. He looked young so I’m assuming he has little empathy for the older person.

Promises results based on cockiness. Uncaring postoperative pain management. Biggest issue: my question" will the surgery you are proposing prohibit me from having successful total joint replacements in future" His response "absolutely not". Well... what he means is I will have to see a super specialist because it's a massive revision and not an easy joint replacement. Please do not drink the Kool-Aid and agree to his partial arthroplasty f you haven't told you need totals.. much pain & $$$. I

The absolute very best!!! Compassionate, brilliant, warm.Dr Kollmorgen took me as a patient after another surgeon for 4yrs tried to convince me there was nothing wrong with the shoulder replacement he performed and the pain and imobility was all in my head. Dr Kollmorgen immediately saw there problems.turns out the ball was unscrewed from implant, rotator cuff was completely torn and the cup was lose and wore the bone so much I needed a graft.I now am pain free w/100% movement. TY Dr Kollmorgen
