Dr. Robert Michaels, MD

I'm very happy to have found Dr. Michaels. He explains things thoroughly in plain, down-to-earth terms that are easy to understand. Although not his usual choice of medication, he was willing to work with me on an alternative hypothyroid medication (Armour, prescribed by a previous doctor) as long as my blood levels are in healthy range and I feel well. He responds in a very timely manner when I correspond with him through mymercy.net, which may solve some patients' issues with trying to get a hold of the doctor through the front desk.

I have been going to Dr. Michaels for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience with Dr. Michaels himself. The issue is with the office staff. Lack of knowledge, care, and professionalism over the phone and in-person. Pharmacy has issues getting through to refill prescriptions. Difficult to get a timely appointment.

He thinks if your t4 is normal you don't need need more medication even if your TSH is over 5. He has been under dosing my thyroid medication because my t4 is normal. My year living with low thyroid has been miserable.

After today I wouldn't recommend him for anything. They called the day of my appointment while I'm at work to cancel my appointment that day. And the dr is in and will still be their. They ar refusing to see me and the lady hung up on me. They are very unprofessional. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.
