Very Good Neurologist, my parents also switched to
I have a couple of neurological issues, including some from a compound cervical fracture that was initially fused incorrectly in San Diego in a surgery Dec. 2001, that needed to be re-fused a year later. I live in the LA area now, and have many procedures done regularly in the LA area, including: "Deep Skull Procedure" - Spheno-Palatine Ganglia Blocks @ Cedars, Gamma Knife Stereo-tactic Radiation @ UCLA Med - Westwood, and Suprascapular Nerve Blocks every two weeks @ St. John's in Santa Monica. Whenever I return "home", to North Adams, for more than 2 - 3 days, I always try to book an appointment with Dr. Van Uitert. He has done the Suprascapular Nerve Blocks, and other procedures, many times. I normally have these procedures at some of the top medical centers in the country; Cedars is #2, UCLA Med is #5. In my opinion, Dr. Van Uitert is top-notch. Extremely knowledgeable, engaged w/patients, caring, and spends quality time w/you. Both my parents switched to him, and love him.

Dr. Van Uitert has a lousy temper and inappropriate sense of personal boundaries. For example, he snatched my purse away from me and threw it on a chair, after I had set it down beside me on the patient bed where he had me sit for my exam. I have also observed him yelling at his staff. He prescribed me a medication that caused me to have severely diminished cognitive function without warning me that the drug came with serious side effects which had heavy consequences on my life.
