A caring and helpful encounter
I have been a patient of Dr. Samuel Hakim since 2015. When I had a problem with an unwanted retention of urine, he examined me thoroughly and could help me a therapy which has normalized my life since then. When another health problem evolved which required a biopsy, it was Dr. Hakim who did not only perform the procedure in a precise way, but did it without my feeling any pain. I trust him entirely and would not hesitate to undergo any further necessary surgery, as long as he would be available to perform it.

On our first visit with Dr. Hakim I was answering the questions he was asking about my husband when Dr. Hakim asked me “ Can he answer the questions?” I explained to the doctor that my husband has dementia. We scheduled a subsequent appointment for a procedure a month later. I got a voicemail telling me today that the appointment made a month ago had been canceled due to the fact that the doctor would not be in that day. I am not impressed so far.

I just read other reviews about Dr. Hakim's office & was very surprised. I've taken my dad for a few appointments, & not only do I like Dr. Hakim, his staff, though not over-friendly, have been professional & have followed through in all cases. I would definitely recommend this practice.

The doctors of Urology San Antonio seem OK but the practice is hampered by a MEDIOCRE staff. I had to wait TWO HOURS past my appointment time and to follow up on lab results I could not reach ANYONE and let the phone RING AND RING for ten minutes during the mid-morning. I then tried the extension reserved for physicians to see if ANYONE would answer and again, no one picked up the phone. The doctor admitted he doesn't look at messages via the patient portal. Unacceptable!

I agee with the reviews of Will and George. Dr. Hakim is personable and seems to be competent, however I'll never know since I chose to find another urologist after having to deal with the rude, argumentative, incompetent staff. It's truly a shame that this is going on. I assume Dr. Hakim is oblivious to all of this and won't find out until it affects his bottom line. After all it is a business and his patients are his customers. I informed my primary care physician of my adverse experience.

Dr. Hakim is a decent doctor and personable but the staff is rude, disorganized and inept at best. Test results and appropriate followup treatments are miserably difficult to schedule. Outside doctors and nurses complain about having to interact with Dr. Hakim's staff. Go elsewhere if possible.

Completely inept and rude staffing. If the people working for you have their head inserted in their recctum, I can't expect the doctor to be any better. I would not recommend using Urology San Antonio for any of your medical needs. Long hold times on the phone, added to thievery should you need to reschedule. Not people I would trust for any medical need and absolutely will not trust them with my money.
