Dr. Shazia Goraya, MD

Initial impression she was caring and compassionate. Went into great detail about my condition and several options. However, she withheld details of an alternative option that is not an initial recommendation for my situation. I had to ask for details on that option, which she was angry about. Turns out that was the best option for me in the long run. Her office staff was very rude and would not allow the support person who traveled over an hour to attend with me to join me. At a difficult time, when anxiety is overwhelming and the appointment was 2 hours of a great deal of information, a support person is a necessity. After reading the visit notes in MyChart, I was appalled at the negativity toward me asking for additional information on the option she did not want to discuss, stating that was the only option I was interested in. I believe information on all options available should be presented so an educated, informed decision can be made.

Dr Goraya seemed nice when I met with her. She appears to care about her patients and takes her time. Her office staff on the other hand lacks all concern, empathy and more importantly communication. I feel bad for this physician because I wont be returning back to her because of her office and nursing staff. Sometimes It does not matter if the physician is great. For me, a physicians staff is just as important. Her staff does not relay messages to her, show any type of concern (especially when you are going through a cancer scare) are rude and short on the phone and always appear that they are too busy for their patients. Its a shame! Because of her staff I will not be returning. I had such a better experience at UH
