Dr. Shirley Wang, MD

I saw Dr Wang and she was nice enough but her office was VERY hard to get an appointment scheduled. First they made put a credit card on file before they would even sched. which I thought was weird but I hadn't even been to a rheumy so just gave it to them. She immediately diagnosed me with 2 conditions and sent me home with a med sample for injection (it starts with an H and ends in Mira). She had me on prednisone which made me feel great but once I started tapering off I started itching all over. I guessed it was a reaction to the injections. I went in again and had to see a NP and was told that Dr Wang said it's just inflammation and to double my dose. I did and I was in agony with itchy skin that was waking me up at night. In the meantime my insurance changed and I was told Dr Wang wouldn't see me anymore or fill meds and so I was left unmedicated for the 8 months til I could get in with another Dr who told me Dr Wang was removed from their group and is know for misdiagnosing...

Dr. Wang is not only knowledgeable but kind and patient as well. She takes the time to answer patient questions and doesn't rush them. She is hands-on not only with patient exams but with reviewing reports from other doctors, radiology, labs, etc. The only negatives I could say are it takes 48 or more hours to get a reply to portal messages, lab results often don't get conveyed to patient for 3-5 days whereas my other doctors show the lab results as soon as a day later via their portals, and she is scheduled out 4 to 6 months normally.

She was the first doctor to actually be able to figure out what was going on with me. I was unable to receive a diagnosis from any doctors over the past 7 years or so. This is the first doctor that fairly quickly knew what the issue was. She took the time to look over the xrays herself and told me what she saw on them. She really has been the only doctor that has been hopeful that they can help me. I am in the process of trying medication so we will see how that goes. But so far she has been great. The only issue I have been having is that it is difficult to get in touch with the office when I am having an issue. Which could really dissuade someone from wanting to use their practice, so I hope they can find a way to make that better.

Dr Wang was excellent. She explained both clearly and concisely the path we would take to help with my inflammation. I didn’t feel rushed and left with more knowledge regarding my issues. Feeling better already. Her staff was courteous and friendly. So happy that I saw her.

Dr. Wang and her staff are wonderful. Dr. Wang is very knowledgeable on autoimmune disorders and is great at explaining the why behind the diagnosis and treatment.

Have been treated by Dr Wang for over a year. Total experience has been very good. I am a tough case and she has really helped me.

I see her specifically for RA. Been her patient for several years. Granted, at times it is difficult to get an appointment because she's an excellent doctor. Of all the Rheumatologist's I've seen in 20+ years, I find her to be most knowledgeable, informative, supportive and, helpful. Wouldn't trade this woman for anything. She's always on top of the most recent studies, medication and treatment. I truly believe that Dr. Wang is seriously worth visiting.

not too good . i gave 24 hours notice for cancelling my appointment and still got billed for it .

At first glance - knowledgable and kind in exam room...BUT...terrible communication and followup - on average takes more than 48 hours to respond to emails on patient portal, often does not directly address patient questions or concerns directly, skirting around the answer or ignoring altogether. Difficult to reach and slow to respond in an emergency/urgent situations. DOES NOT do her own prior authorizations nor double check the work of the company that does leading to denials, appeals and delays. Pushes to send patient prescriptions through Sendera specialty pharmacy despite patient insurance pharmacy or local pharmacy preference - causing further delays in ability to get medication in a timely manner. Incredibly rude sister is office manager/scheduler and talks down to patients when they have issues or problems. Wish I had read the online reviews before going. Also appears to have hopped locations locally and in Wichita. Why so many moves?

Dr. Wang is one of the most Professional Doctor's I've seen. I have an Auto Immune Disorder and have seen many Physicians throughout my Life. She's very friendly, explains things well! Very pleased with my care I receive at her Office

Dr. Wang treats you with compassion and works with you to come up with the best regime to your specific needs. If something does not work she makes sure to explore alternatives. She works with 2 of my other specialists for a treatment plan and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Her nurses & front desk are also very personable and make you feel at ease. Highly recommend! So happy she came to Olathe, KS!

I am a patient of Dr Wang. Dr Wang is very detailed, polite, and very knowledgeable of the RX out there as well as their side effects. These are the most important factors for us patients. I disagreed w/ Kathy Carl's review on 6/6/16, Dr Wang DOESN'T have her own PA in the clinic. The Wichita clinic front desk must have scheduled Kathy with the clinic PA not Dr. Wang. Dr Wang is now practicing in the new office in Olathe, KS. Dr Wang is the best doctor that I have ever seen !

Dr. Shirley Wang is the most excellent doctor in her field I have ever been to. She is kind, compassionate, and exceptionally skilled. She recently moved to Olathe from Wichita, so I plan to call for an appt., she is well worth the drive.

I would recommend Dr. Wang to anyone who needs a Rheumatologist. Because she is so patient doesn’t rush you, takes the time to listen to you. She is very honest, always has a smile and loves to research the Diagnosis and Medications, before she puts you on them. She is truly a Blessing. Literally she is one of the best Rheumatologists I know. My biggest fear is that one day she will leave me and open her on practice somewhere else. And she did. You can find her in Olathe, KS

Dr wang very rarely sees her patients. Her PA sees her patients most of the time. Be sure to also get the name of the staff when you make or cancel appointments as they claim that you never showed up to your apt when you very clearly cancelled. They will charge you for that appointment. Very unprofessional over the phone from there staff. Would not recommend.
