Dr. Simon Ashiku Jr, MD

I just had a 10-year checkup from the date of my thoracic surgery performed by Dr. Ashiku. My checkup was here in NYC at Memorial Sloan Kettering, one of the very best cancer institutes in the U.S., and the fellow reviewing my CT scan images could not stop gushing at the amazing job Dr. Ashiku did 10 years ago. In fact, a number of doctors at that time had refused to even operate on me, and many informed me that they would need to remove one of my lungs as part of any surgery. Dr Ashiku accepted the challenge, and I thrive today on having both lungs intact with no lasting symptoms or manifestation of any malignant tumor having grown in my airways. I am one of the lucky ones in many ways, and I thank Dr. Ashiku and the Kaiser team for delivering an incredible result that is still admired today.

Dr. Simon Ashiku is a brilliant and exceptional surgeon who performed a lower left lobectomy on me less than three months ago due to cancer. My healing process after this major surgery has been comfortable and more seamless than I ever could have imagined. Dr. Ashiku has an uncanny compassion for his patients and I am blessed to have had this incredibly gifted surgeon take me as his patient. When Dr Ashiku was in Boston Massachusetts back in 2006 he did Lung Surgery on me. It has been 10 years now and I am still doing as good as he left me. I have been trying to find him since He left the hospital he did my surgery at to tell him "Thank You" and to let him know how much I appreciated the care he gave me when he was here.
