Very attentive and listens
The Dr. listens and explains everything with care. Ask questions, as he will answer them, unlike many doctors. Ask more questions, especially if a procedure is suggested or scheduled. There is a lot to know, and the doctor doesn't mind explaining.

Excellent Treatment of My BPH
I was diagnosed with BPH in my 50s and over the past 20 years have had three urologists in Atlanta who have treated me for this condition. While doctors have recommended various surgical interventions, I avoided them until Dr.Stephen Overholser became my urologist. He introduced me to minimally invasive procedures and I decided to go with Rezum. This was the best decision I could have made; Dr. Overholser performed the in-office procedure and it was very successful. My BPH has significantly been reduced, my symptoms gone and I am drug free. I can truly say that Dr. Overholser changed my life. I recommend him strongly.

Dr. Overholser made a diagnosis that would have involved surgery. I tried to ask questions and he repeatedly refused to answer and told me I had to undergo a very invasive test that I was extremely hesitant about. When I told him I was hesitant and needed some answers, I was told to either do the invasive test or find another doctor and he would not answer my questions. He was extremely arrogant. In fact, he told me he had considered every possible solution to my problem and this is the only way so he did not need to answer my questions. I went to another doctor in a different Practice. My new doctor actually took the time to answer my questions and we found out Dr. Overholser was totally wrong on his diagnosis and would have realized that if he would have actually answered questions. I also did not have to undergo the invasive test. I would have had unnecessary surgery and a painful test if I had listened to Overholser.

Dr Overholser is fantastic. Problem is with the staff. Saw the Dr first on Aug 24. 2nd visit Sep 14. 3rd visit Sept 28. He prescribed medication for my erectile dysfunction and as if Nov 2 (today) have not received; nor heard back from the in-house Pharmacist Daniele Jones about the Rx. Leaving messages don’t work. When last called the clinical staff didn’t have a record of me leaving a message. Only way to get the Rx is most likely see Dr Overholser because phone calls are ignored.

Wish I could give Dr. Overholser 10 Stars... He is a god-send. Recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, I was referred to Dr. Overholser for surgery. Just talking to him was so positive - my wife and I felt like "this guy knows his stuff and he can help me". Dr. Overholser is very skilled in Robotic Prostatectomy and I'm so glad he is my Dr. His skill was evident in some unforseen issues that showed up in surgery but he handled them. Now 2 months after surgery I continue to be impressed. He is like your friend. He continues to reassure me that he is there with me thru the long recovery. He is friendly and positive and very knowledgeable and happily answers my millions of questions (not may Drs. do that nowdays). I feel that I'm in good hands, and glad I found him. Also very happy with GA Urology in general - have been to 3 different Drs and they all have been great - there is very little waiting (they use an electronic check in) and even the staff and nurses are great.
