Dr. Steven Proshan, MD

I decided not to use Dr. Proshan for surgery. I was dissatisfied with his matter-of-fact, dismissive and biased attitude. Although I am fully insured, he suggested that I drive nearly an hour to a clinic in Baltimore for blood work when the Labcorp where I normally get blood work was a mile from his office and 20 minutes from my home. He acknowledged that after I suggested the closer location. He also was very “pushy” about surgery, suggesting that I schedule it immediately when there wasn’t a medical urgency. When I told my doctor about how I was treated, she was mortified and identified another doctor for my procedure. I do not recommend him at all.

Dr Proshan operated on my son a few years ago-was excellent. He explained everything thoroughly and is the type of surgeon that doesn’t judge his patients. He’s just a great guy and LGBTQIA friendly. Fast forward, my elderly mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and Dr Proshan immediately scheduled an appt and surgery to remove the tumor. Due to Dr Proshan’s bedside manner, preparedness and extensive surgical information (a formative three ring binder with tons of information), my mother didn’t worry and our family was at ease. The surgery went extremely well and Dr Proshan’s use of technology and research ensuring no blood clots and problems post surgery has garnered my upmost respect. I wish more doctors were like Dr Proshan!! It has been a week since my mom had 8”of colon removed and she’s walking around as if nothing happened. She feels great and her energy level improves daily. Fortunately, mom has a great prognosis and will be with us past her 89 years

Dr. Proshan is the doctor the other doctors and nurses go to for colon or rectal cancer! His skillset is impressive. Not a warm and fuzzy doc just a down to business kind of guy--but he saved my spouse from stage 3 colorectal cancer. Good man, great heart, mad skills! So grateful to have been steered in his direction by the hematology and radiology oncology doctors and nurses. A+ all the way.

I've been seeing Dr. Proshan for about 15 years and cannot speak highly enough about his professionalism, kind bedside manner and level of care! Colorectal issues can be scary and Dr. Proshan makes you feel at ease while providing excellent medical care. I highly recommend him to anyone facing issues requiring a colorectal surgeon.

The worst office staff I have ever experienced. They are rude and nasty. Wrongly coded my procedure resulting in the hospital charging me @$1000 when the correct code would have been fully covered by insurance. They refused, in their usual rude way, to correct it. Dr. Proshan needs to clean house of his reception staff and find some friendly people who like other friendly people.

Very compassionate, pressed cancer board to act on my case, which sped up treatment by weeks, relieving my pain.
