Dr. Vanhecke is amiable, has excellent bedside manners, and explains medical conditions in layman's terms. He is meticulous and gives your appointment enough time so you don't feel hurried.

Dr. Vanhecke is the FIRST specialist that I have ever seen who actually listens to, understands, and validates your concerns. My previous encounters with other cardiologists, rheumatologists, immunologists, etc. were so invalidating and discouraging, I truly gave up hope that I would ever be properly diagnosed, let alone treated.All of that changed with Dr. Vanhecke. Not only was he extremely patient, kind, and a great listener, he was able to diagnose my lifelong condition during my first new patient appointment with him. He also discovered another medical issue with my heart, of which I was previously unaware (and cannot believe that not a single one of the multitude of doctors that I have seen over the years never found).I finally feel like there is hope for me, thanks to Dr. Vanhecke. I have a treatment plan, complete with medications to try to alleviate my symptoms, appropriate medical testing scheduled to rule out other causes of my symptoms, and most of all, validation.

Never saw the Dr. First appointment they said wasnt scheduled, tho' I got a reminder called. Second appointment, stress test was incomplete. Third appointment to review test, Dr. was out of town and staff didn't know! The incompetence of this office scares me and I sought out a different cardiologist. They just called for a 4th appointment that I NEVER made!!!!!!!

Dr VanHeche substituted for my cardiologist who was out of town. Dr VanHeche was very kind and concerned about my issue. Although I only saw him once, I would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

Trying to get a person to answer - is virtually impossible. I am on my 5 th attempt in 7 days and the last one stated that no one is in the office (3:31 pm on a Friday) even though the voice message says that they open until 5 pm. The person who answered the call said that the staff left at 3:30 pm NO KIDDING! Prior to that, on a Monday, they said that the staff was on lunch between 1 pm and 2 pm (I called at 1:05 pm). Dr. Vanhecke is a wonderful Dr. and is genuinely concerned about his patients. Unfortunately, his staff is doing the Heart Institute a disservice...another reason why UNIONS here (Teamsters) are terrible.

Dr VanHecke is everything you would hope your doctor would be. He is thorough and listens. He is kind and will figure out the Best courses of action. He actually sees patients as people. If a Cardiologist is needed, Dr V is your man!
