Dr. Nguyen is by far the best MD, psychiatrist or otherwise, I've ever had. I strongly recommend him to anyone who has had low psych treatment success elsewhere. I'm shocked to see a reviewer saying his treatment standards are outdated--I'm a psychologist who has studied psychopharmaceuticals & based on my experiences with him, Dr. Nguyen is a rare case of a psychiatrist who actually does keep up with the literature. Every time he prescribes me a med he knows what the most compelling empirical findings suggest about dosing etc. and explains his opinion/what the science suggests while also presenting me with an exhaustive set of options to make decisions. Dr. Nguyen is also extremely thorough with me--he takes detailed notes, asks a ton of questions to get a holistic picture of the situation, and prepares for our sessions by coming in with a list of things we need to cover. He has great "bedside" manner too: it's obvious he genuinely cares & does his best to help alleviate my symptoms.

This psychiatrist is unable to provide adequate psychotherapeutic treatment as he lacks insight into the psychodynamics of others. This, along with his inability to display or exhibit empathy, renders him an ineffective therapist. Unfortunately, his medication management skills seem to be based on outdated standards. In sum, his inability to provide competent psychotherapy services along with his poor understanding of current medication management standards of care render him a rather incompetent psychiatrist.

Dr.Tien Nguyen helped me finally regarding my anxiety problems, he had just to understand my story but during one doctors visit is not enough time to explain all my problems to him. But after he understood what's going on with me he did help me and for that I am forever grateful.
