Very poor experience with Dr. Tanaka.
We went to Dr. Tanaka for an opinion on an MDS diagnosis. She spent most of the time giving boilerplate info and said her hour was up right after telling us we had a 10% chance of living for another year after a transplant. No alternative options, no hope, no nothing. She also assumed that a mutation was present even though the reading said it was negative, because of her “experience”. No follow up, no treatment options, nothing. Sometimes I think people forget about what being in medicine is really about. It’s not the white coat and the diploma.

Dr. Tanaka is a wonderful, extremely knowledgeable Doctor dealing in blood cancers. She has tremendous empathy, a unique ability to explain complex medical concepts so the patient can understand them, and excellent listening skills. She really reassured us at a very stressful time. She also has a wonderful caring staff. Highly recommended.
