Dr. Veronica Gillispie-Bell, MD

Absolutely horrendous. Dr. Gillespie was the on call Obstetrician at Ochsner Kenner during my labor. I was taken to a room around 9:30 am , and Dr. Gillespie didn’t come by to “check on” me until that evening around 4:30pm. She didn’t examine me, she simply stood at the left side of my bed and introduced herself. I didn’t see her until 2:00 am the following morning, despite knowing that I had meconium in my water sac and that it was a probability that my son could aspirate the meconium. This was also after pushing for over an hour and 45 min, when she came in and finally checked me, and told me that I needed an emergency cesarian because my baby was not in position. During the emergency surgery, my son in fact did aspirate meconium and was rushed to the NICU directly from the operating room and stayed there for 6 days. He was intubated, fed through his umbilical cord, and oxygen levels were at life threatening levels.

Terrible experience with this OBGYN. She originally came recommended, and I can see that others have had a good experience, but I did not. Does not listen to patient concerns. Will offer minimal care, regardless of what the patient may ask for. This doctor put false information in my chart, saying that she discussed details with me that she actually did not discuss at all during the rushed appointment. After waiting 3-4 months for an appointment, you would hope that you could get answers to important questions from an understanding doctor. More than once my appointments were rushed and concerns dismissed/downplayed. Later I learned that she was the same OBGYN who ignored my friend's symptoms after giving birth, leading to a serious pelvic infection and causing this mother to be admitted to the hospital away from her baby for a week. Some staff were also rude with negative attitudes. Would definitely NOT recommend Gillispie to anyone for OB or Gyn care.

Dr Gillispie is always timely, thorough and she is very patient in answering all of my questions regarding my health specific to fibroids. She’s knowledgeable and cares about the treatment plans she recommends. She treats me like family! I’ve referred her to every female I know. She’s EXCEPTIONAL!!

The absolute best! Dr. Gillispie gave me hope that other obgyn were not able to. Dr. Gillispie is a blessing. An exceptional doctor and woman.

Very warm approachable Doctor, she patiently listens and is very helpful. Performed laparotomy myomectomy successfully, giving hope to a mother to be. Her staff are wonderful too, and they respond to questions promptly. Dr. Gillispie is an exceptional wonderful personality.

Dr. G treats you like more than "just" a patient. She sympathize and empathize with you. She is concerned about what concerns you. I love how she takes the time to thoroughly explain options in treatment and gives you wisdom on staying healthy and pro-active. She down to earth, has a beautiful personality, and is extremely knowledgeable in her craft. I recommend her all the time!!!!

I swear I love my doctor... BUT- she is in VERY HIGH DEMAND and imo that puts a strain on her ability to provide personalized and continued care to those who have been patients of hers for YEARS! Bedside manner is great! She's JUST BUSYYY!!!!! It's disappointing. Don't expect a call back from her if you have an issue, question or concern. All communication is through the nurse. If you're not physically there for an appt, don't expect your needs to be addressed. 40+ pts/day will do that to ya.

I was recommended to Dr. Gillispie by another women's care professional with the same personality! She took time to answer my list of questions (and I had quite a few) and never made me feel like I was bothering her! I had surgery (hysterectomy) and she eased my anxieties about it! Her staff always answered my emails in a timely fashion and they too were very friendly. After my surgery, she explained everything to my mom and mom appreciated that! Would recommend her to others!

Dr. Gillespie is one of the most patient and caring physician I have encountered. She took time to answer all of my questions about my female health issues. She took care of all of my problems, great bedside manner and has a great staff. I had surgery on January 31, 2017. I've had no problems or complications. I have recommended her to my family and friends. She's a great doctor.

I had a terrible experience with this physician. I almost died after she did surgery on me. I spent almost 1 month at the hospital due to complications from the surgery. She wants to manage all my complications and did not consult other specialists on the case. She does not know her limits and that's very dangerous. I had to fire her on my case and get a different doctor. Physicians in the community need to stop referring people to her. Stay away from that physician if you want to survive.

Dr. Gillispie is a great doctor. I will admit you have to be patient for your first visit because she is in high demand all over this city due to her excellent work. She has a great bedside manner and she does not rush you out of the office. She will make sure you are taken care of. This explains why it may take an extra few minutes to be seen but she is well worth the wait. I have been a patient for several years and I have no complaints. I prefer her over my other doctors because she's sincere

She literally yelled at me in our appointment. I was there for my routine pap smear, and I asked her before we began if she could help me with chronic yeast infections. She gave me solutions I had found on google (use different soap, don't wear panties at night) and then told me there was nothing else she could do. When I asked her if she was sure, she told me that "this visit is for a pap smear," and if I wanted to talk about a problem, I "should schedule another appointment." I left crying.

Dr. Gillispie is by far the best OBGYN doctor that I have ever had. She is very caring and thorough with her patients. I always feel like she is taking her time with me. She makes sure that I have full understanding of my feminine health and she explains the things I don't know. She is non biased and provides all available treatment options for any situation. She also makes very sound recommendations that she know will be most suitable for your lifestyle. Dr. G is a wonderful surgeon as well.

I absolutely love Dr. Gillespie! I even refer my own patients to her. Her bedside manner is amazing and she never fails to make me feel calm and comfortable. I recommend anyone looking for an obgyn to see her. There maybe a little wait but she is definitely worth it.

Although there was a waiting list for new patients, I waited due to her excellent reputation; Worth the wait. I have suffered with Uterine Fibroids since my mid 20's, have had disappointing experiences with GYN's along the way, Now early 50's and can safely say that aside from Dr. Swan-Jones, (no longer practicing in the area) Dr. Gillespie is the most attentive to my needs, most knowledgable regarding my condition, and by far has the best bedside approach. I LOVE her!!!!!

Not easily accessible for patients. Although it takes 1-1.5 months to get Ann appointment, you will be see (after a 20-30 minute wait) very swiftly with no consideration for your needs. I was told be a person at the desk that she was highly sought after now I see that she does not turn any patient down which raises her patient count keeps her over books and makes her appear sought after.

She was not easily accessible.. this was my first baby and she was not helpful at all.. I was seen mainly by the nurse practitioners because she was never available... she didn't even deliver my baby...
