Walk away
After waiting for an appointment, I saw Dr. Choy’s PA, Jennifer, who evaluated me. I later received a call with a “message” from a scheduling person (not Jennifer the PA nor anyone who identified themselves as a licensed professional). The message was relayed saying Dr. Choy says you need anterior so find a doctor who does anterior approach ….no reason, no rationale, no explanation of why). I asked why and the caller could not tell me anymore than the messsge. Dr. Choy may be a good technical clinician but if a doctor blows you off upfront, beware of how you will be treated as a surgical patient. Personal care not a priority and certainly in my case, totally absent. Epic fail.

Dr. Choy acknowledged that during a minor procedure a rare staph infection occurred and it was not treated according to Infectious Disease Protocol. Fortunately, a teaching and research hospital is undoing all the damaged caused.

I recently relocated to the area and was told Dr Choy was the best for total knee replacement surgery. The initial appointment is with a PA. I explained to the PA that I had a condition which may prevent Dr Choy from being able to operate on me. She was unconcerned, took X-rays and set up a surgery date and pre-op meeting with Dr, Choy. Because of my condition, I needed to postpone several times, each time explaining the situation. Finally ready, 10 months after my initial visit, I have an a pre-op visit with Dr Choy who said he would not operate on me due to my condition. He said Bebee is a local hospital and not equipped to handle potential complications. He spent less than 5 minutes with me and showed no compassion. Clearly Dr Choy runs a very successful factory and does not want to do a case where there could be problems. While I can understand that, it should not have taken 10 months to find this out. The PA at my initial visit should have checked with Dr Choy immediately.

Dr Choy repaired my shattered shoulder from an accident. Every thing went well. He advised against joint replacement due to my age. ten rods later i am healing and doing physical therapy. I see his capable PA for follow ups. Impressed by the handling of my case during the Corona crisis

I am 6 years out from a total knee replacement which was done by Dr. Choy. It was the best decision I could've made pertaining to my knee. He did a wonderful job with the surgery and the scarring down my knee is minimal. I recommend him to everyone I run into that says that are facing a knee replacement. Also, his staff and associates have been quite professional and courteous to me still to this date as I continue to go back for treatments on the other knee. I travel approximately 60+ miles just to see him and it's well worth it!

The worst. I've been hobbling around with a painful left knee for a year because I was misdiagnosed. Should have recommended MRI. Terrible practice!

Dr. Choy revised my left total knee replacement and removed hardware from my thigh.. My original knee replacement was done by another surgeon. It never worked right and my thigh was broken trying to make it bend. Dr. Choy revised the knee ,took out the rod and screws that were placed following the breaking of my thigh bone. ,and corrected the resulting deformity. Within two weeks my leg is straight and my new knee is fully functional. I wish I had gone to him for the original knee replacement!

I found Dr. Choi did not tell me the possible out comes of my knee surgery and what he did created a difficulty that will hamper me for the rest of my life. Then his attitude about it was very cavalier.
