I do not recommend seeing this doctor if you are looking for empathy and compassion. After years of struggling, I was finally referred to this doctor for debilitating symptoms that are impacting my daily life. Her lack of empathy and condescending attitude indicated that she did not want to meet with me from the very beginning. She made me feel misunderstood, reflected in her inaccurate post-consultation notes. She continuously compared me to Lupus patients, telling me nothing was wrong with me because I didn't have Lupus. She spoke to me as if I was stupid and made me feel very vulnerable, telling me that what was going on with me was not an autoimmune disease that she deals with and that I needed to go somewhere else. She told me that my pain was endometriosis just by looking at me, which is clearly not the case based on further testing, which she could have done. My Mum and I remained kind and hopeful, but her inability to think outside of the box caused me more suffering. She only was open to what she wanted to hear, with a clear lack of understanding. I still do not understand how someone who is supposed to help you and be supportive can be so belittling. She ordered tests after making me feel that my symptoms were invalidated just because they were not at their peak on that day. I have test results sitting in my portal, but I have not received any communication in over two months, despite trying to. She was unkind and close-minded, diminishing me. 0 stars.

What a disappointment. Ill equipped.
I have never met a physician as inept as Dr. Sterba. If your child has something within the scope of practice of a rheumatologist that isn’t arthritis she is not the doctor for you. I also wouldn’t recommend anyone, even those with arthritis, to see her either. Usually a good specialist will say “I recommend seeing (Insert a different specialist here)” and recommend a trusted specialist. No recommendations, no names, just nothing. Her personality is not one of caring or concern or a willingness to guide you to the help your child needs. It is such a shame to see a female doctor in a male dominated field behave the way she does. She has the potential to be a wonderful, caring and compassionate physician, one who would put your child in great hands, even if those hands don’t belong to her, but she actively chooses to do less than the bare minimum. Don’t waste your time or your copay. She may be a “specialist” but she is stunningly unremarkable.

Worst Dr. Ever
Let me start my saying that Dr. Sterba has no sympathy for her patients nor their parents. She doesn't know what she's doing and she doesn't help her patients. My granddaughter is a patient of hers and Sterba makes her parents feel like they are the ones that don't care. She just doesn't care I don't know how she became a Dr. She talks to the parents like they are idiots and all they are doing is following everything she tells them to do. She's suppose to be the professional and if she doesn't know what the hell she's doing then she needs to go back to school....the board needs to reevaluate her and take both licenses away she shouldn't be a Dr....look for another career because being a Dr isn't for you! I put a star because it wouldn't let me send the review but she actually gets 0 stars!

Do not see Dr. Sterba
I’d like to start by saying how rare a Pediatric Rheumatologist is to find. Only 400 in the whole country. Also Key Word “pediatric” they are supposed to help children. Little babies with rare diseases. Dr. Sterba has no love for her patients. Absolutely no compassion. We recently moved from NYC and we’re referred to Dr. Sterba on our first appointment she came late and was very dry. On our second appointment I was called the day before that Dr. Sterba will not able to see me for my appointment that we booked months in advance re arranging our work/school schedules. Yes that can happen but when I asked to be accommodated for an earlier appointment her staff told me it wasn’t possible when I asked to speak to the doctor who didn’t like my frustration or care for my child who needs to be seen. Dr. Sterba told me i should see another doctor. I insisted I see her because I don’t know another doctor. After that visit I was sent a certified letter that she will no longer see my daughter!

Without saying hello, she walks in and says “I don’t know why you are here to see me or what you expect me to do for you”. She took lots of notes but obviously had no interest in thinking outside her box or doing anything to help us. Office is run well and staff is nice but she seemed bothered that she had to see us.
