Great Doctor!
Dr. Shao has always been very quick to reply to any questions I might have, and has been extremely warm and kind. She even caught an issue I was having though it should've been handled by another doctor that was in that specialty. She is always professional, and her staff is just as amazing as she is. One would be lucky to have her as their physician!

She is rushed and does not allow you to ask questions. If you have a question to ask after the appointment she will charge you to come in for a separate appointment. Do not recommend.

Does not care
She does not care about patients. Don’t bother sending a message thru the portal, she will not bother to read up about your chronic diseases either. Just wants you to come to the office and as they all do, push unnecessary tests. Scripps doctors don’t seem to realize that we can NOT drop work and constantly go to doctors appointments and tests.

Dr. Shao is very rigid and doesn't probe into health issues to resolve them. She specializes in elderly care and I did not believe this is a good fit. When I contacted her the day after going to the emergency room because I passed out due to low potassium, she told me to eat more natural foods. While they may help, how much should I eat? What about the dose they gave me in ER? What about the blood tests they took in the ER--she doesn't want to see those results? Does she even care that I passed out and was unresponsive? I think not.

She refused to see me even though I arrived within the grace period. If she has no compassion for a patient who is struggling with chronic health issues and tried their best to make it within the grace period, she is not worth seeing as a doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Shao as primary care physician for more than 2 years now. Every time I visited her office she listened with care, she ordered the necessary tests and reviewed all my history. She always answers my questions on their website without delays. I strongly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a primary car physician. Thank you Dr. Shao

She likes playing the reimbursement game. I received calls from my health insurance explaining why they wont cover a list of test for me. I didn't request these test nor did we discuss these test.... this left a bad taste in my mouth. Tread with caution.

Dr. Shan is a wonderful doctor! She is my father’s physician. Always takes a lot of time with my Dad. She is attentive and kind and very patient. Her nurse in the office Mina is also wonderful!
