We went in for couples therapy and it was an awful experience. Rather than teaching us how to navigate difficult situations, she found and exacerbate them. She laughed at me when I got emotional and used derogatory language throughout sessions thinking it was funny such as saying I had 'nagging wife syndrome'. It was definitely not funny. It truly felt like she did not know what she was doing, so instead of providing meaningful tools or advice she kept poking at us and laughing when we'd react emotionally. It was really rough. I tried to stick with it for probably 6 sessions, thinking maybe it was a part of the process or that I was being sensitive, but eventually, the thought of even going caused more anxiety than it was worth.
