After a four day hospital stay where I left with a Foley catheter in place, I had severe pain, urine leakage around the urethra, and a blood clot. I was instructed by the people who checked in on me to go back to the ER because that’s not normal and it could be a sign of something new or worsening. She asked me “so what do you va want me to do I can remove it or replace it what do you want” and after telling her I don’t know but I know something is off, she says she wants to check my previous urine culture. The hospital doctor told me the culture was negative but urinalysis showed everything indicating UTI and acute kidney injury as well as bladder retention and the negative culture didn’t mean there was no UTI. She proceeds to tell me I never had a UTI, still looking at me like I’m crazy, then tells me to wait in the lobby till a bed opened up. This whole time she never treated my severe pain or nausea, has them remove my catheter to do a post void trial (which I couldn’t pee) then replaced my catheter. She offered me treatments that were clearly not going to help, but I accepted because it was all she would do. That made her look at my like I was crazy again. She also told me that she was going to send my little bit of urine to get tested again, which is a lie because she never sent it. She discharged me in severe pain still and made me feel crazy for being concerned about serious issues. She was rude, had terrible bedside manner, and I would never suggest her unless you have something like a heart attack which is probably the only thing she deems important.
