Biography: Dr. Danielle Brandman is the director of the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. She specializes management of patients with liver diseases including autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease, metabolic liver disease, and liver cancers. She sees patients with end-stage liver disease (cirrhosis) and evaluates those who need liver transplantation. She provides medical care to patients before and after liver transplantation. She has a special interest in the care of patients with fatty liver disease.She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology (with distinction) from Boston University, and graduated from Rutgers (formerly UMDNJ) New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed all of her post-graduate medical training at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), including internal medicine in 2008, gastroenterology fellowship in 2011, and transplant hepatology in 2012. During her gastroenterology fellowship, she completed a Master's of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research in 2011.In 2012, she joined the faculty at UCSF, where she served an integral role in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and nurse practitioners. She was the director of the intern and resident required and elective rotations in liver transplantation and hepatology. She served as the Program Director for the ACGME-certified Transplant Hepatology Fellowship. She was a key educator in hepatology and liver transplantation for internal medicine residents and subspecialty fellows. Her teaching skills were recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award from the UCSF Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators in 2015. She has provided formal and informal mentorship to numerous trainees. She received the Mentor of the Year Award by the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute Resident Research Program. She has served as a mentor for the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) for several Emerging Liver Scholars.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Jesudian is heavily involved in the care of hospitalized patients with liver disease, both in developing systems to improve quality of care and in the educational instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows at both the Cornell and Columbia Campuses. He also serves as a member of the Department of Medicine Quality Improvement Patient Safety Committee. Dr. Jesudian has authored articles and book chapters in the field of Hepatology and is actively engaged in clinical research, focusing on the areas of complications of cirrhosis and portal hypertension, post-transplant outcomes, and viral hepatitis.

Biography: Dr. Alyson Fox earned her BA in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University prior to attending the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she served as assistant chief resident. She completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she completed a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology and served as chief fellow. She completed her advanced fellowship training in Advanced Transplant Hepatology at the University of California, San Francisco and was named clinical fellow of the year by the Department of Medicine. Dr. Fox's clinical practice is focused on the management of patients with a variety of liver diseases including viral hepatitis, alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, inherited and autoimmune liver diseases and liver cancers. As a transplant hepatologist, she has advanced training in the management of the complications of end stage liver disease and caring for patients both pre- and post- liver transplantation. As the medical director of the adult transplant program, she oversees the program operations, protocols, outcomes and initiatives. After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Lucero completed her medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at New York University School of Medicine, where she also served as chief resident. Dr. Lucero completed her advanced fellowship training in Transplant Hepatology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University. She is board certified in Transplant Hepatology and Gastroenterology. She specializes in the management of patients with liver diseases including viral hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, metabolic liver disease, and hepatocellular cancer. Biography: Dr. Emily Schonfeld is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr.Schonfeld earned her BS in biological sciences at Cornell University. She obtained her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and then completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. She went on to do a gastroenterology fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine and then a transplant hepatology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medical Center, Dr. Schonfeld spent three years as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado Hospital.Dr. Schonfeld is a transplant hepatologist who specializes in the care of patients with all types of liver disease, including viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, metabolic liver disease, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. She evaluates patients who need liver transplants, provides medical management to patients before and after liver transplant, and helps care for patients with end stage liver disease.

Care Philosophy: My approach to patient care is to listen to the patient intently and to commit my full attention to the patient's concerns. Very often the diagnosis becomes clear just from patient input and information. My main areas of interests include hepatitis and biliary problems. Inflammatory bowl disease is growing concern in Brooklyn, and HIV afflictions in our community and its impact on the bowel is a challenge to our speciality.

Care Philosophy: Dr Ype de Jong is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University and an Attending Physician, New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cornell campus. He joined the faculty after completing his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. In his patient practice Dr. de Jong's interests include viral hepatitis, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease as well as liver disease associated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. In addition he is trained in general Gastroenterology, including endoscopy and colon cancer screening. His research interests are geared to better understanding how hepatitis viruses can evade the immune system and are able to chronically persist in a subset of those infected. To this end he is working on developing new models for hepatitis C virus infection in the basic science arm of the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C at The Rockefeller University.

Biography: Ilan S. Weisberg MD, MAc, is the Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at New York Presbyterian - Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Before returning to NYP, Dr. Weisberg was a member of the medical faculty at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he focused his clinical practice on the management of complex liver disease. During that time, he served as the training program director for the gastroenterology fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Morningside, and West. Dr. Weisberg graduated with honors from Cornell University with a concentration in molecular biology and plant biology, after which he earned an MSc in molecular genetics from McGill University and an MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia University Medical College followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at the Weill Cornell campus of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital as well as an additional fellowship in Transplant Hepatology, also at New York Presbyterian. Dr. Weisberg's research interests focus on cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and alcohol associated liver diseases with particular interest in health care disparity and outcomes research.Dr. Weisberg has been recognized by his students, patients, and colleagues with multiple teaching and clinical practice awards. Biography: Jason Hawksworth, MD is a noted pioneer in minimally invasive robotic hepatobiliary and transplant surgery. Dr. Hawksworth is the Surgical Director of Adult Liver Transplantation, Chief of Hepatobiliary Surgery, and the Director of Robotic Liver Surgery Program in the Division of Abdominal Organ Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is an Associate Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Hawksworth is known for unique and innovative minimally invasive robotic surgeries to remove tumors of the liver, bile duct and pancreas, including robotic major hepatectomy, robotic pancreatectomy, and robotic Whipple. He also specializes in robotic transplantation including robotic kidney transplantation, robotic living donor nephrectomy and robotic living donor hepatectomy. Dr. Hawksworth is a member of several key organizations including a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, International Laparoscopic Liver Society, and Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. His research interests include clinical transplant and hepatobiliary trials, and he has published over 60 scientific manuscripts and book chapters in leading journals such as Annals of Surgery, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, American Journal of Transplantation and Transplantation. Dr. Kato is Surgical Director of Adult and Pediatric Liver and Intestinal Transplantation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is a professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Kato is known for unique and innovative surgeries for adults and children, including a six-organ transplant; a procedure called APOLT (auxiliary partial orthotopic liver transplantation) that resuscitates a failing liver by attaching a partial donor liver, making immunosuppressant drugs unnecessary and the first successful human partial bladder transplantation involving the transplant of two kidneys together with ureters connected to a patch of the donor bladder. In a highly publicized case, he led the first reported removal and re-implantation, or auto-transplantation, of six organs to excise a hard-to-reach abdominal tumor.
