Biography: Dr. Zibari graduated from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences with his medical degree. His General Surgery internship and residency were obtained at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Dr. Zibari then pursued his interest in abdominal solid organ transplantation through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he also served as an instructor of surgery. He was recruited by the Department of Surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport in 1993 to teach and work under his mentor, Dr. John C. McDonald, who was the founder of organ transplantation in this region. Dr. Zibari was a tenured Professor, Vice Chairman for the Department of Surgery for Academic Affairs, the Chief of the Division of Transplantation, and the Malcom Chair in Transplantation. He is currently the Director of John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center as well as the Advanced Surgery Center, both located at Willis-Knighton Medical Center. He has authored and co-authored more than 125 articles in scholarly medical publications as well as reviewed the work of others. Also, he has co-authored and served as a co-editor of the textbook "Surgical Oncology: A Practical and Comprehensive Approach". He has spoken or presented papers at a variety of medical conferences throughout the world and has forged links with medical professionals in his homeland of Kurdistan, Iraq especially at the University of Duhok. Dr. Zibari continues to participate in humanitarian medical outreach in Kurdistan, Vietnam, Egypt, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Dr. Zibari is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous organizations including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Society of Transplant Physicians, the Society of University Surgeons, the Southern Surgical Association, the American Heptao-Panreato-Biliary Association, the American Medical Association, and the John C. McDonald Surgical Society. Additionally, Dr. Zibari has served as president of Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), Louisiana Surgical Association, American College of Surgeons – Louisiana Chapter, American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation, and John C. McDonald Surgical Society. Presently he serves as president-elect of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and as an American College of Surgeons Governor representing the state of Louisiana. He was elected as one of the best interns and residents by his peers at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport four consecutive years. Dr. Zibari was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. Also, he was awarded and honored with the Ellis Island Medal in May of 2007. He was recently honored by the Louisiana State Medical Society with its 2014 Community Service Award.

Biography: T. Ryan Palmer, MD, received his undergraduate degree in biology from Louisiana State University Shreveport in 1996 and his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine in 2000. He also performed his gastroenterology fellowship at LSUHSC-S and completed it in 2006. He began his career locally in private practice before serving our veterans as a GI physician at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport. During this time, Dr. Palmer was also an associate professor at LSUHSC-S and trained other gastroenterologists.Patients work with Dr. Palmer at Pinnacle Gastroenterology, a Willis-Knighton clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Palmer is proficient in various GI procedures, including colonoscopy, EGD and ERCP. He treats diseases such as GERD, peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Biography: Dr. Michael enjoyed his time in Shreveport so much that he chose to return to the Shreveport-Bossier community after practicing Gastroenterology in California. He had completed his undergraduate bachelor's degree in neuroscience at the University of California Riverside, followed by a master's degree in Biological Sciences/Neuroscience at Cal Poly Pomona. From there he proceeded to Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., for a post-baccalaureate program. He earned his MD/MBBS degree from Ochsner School of Medicine/University of Queensland (New Orleans/Australia). Following medical school, he remained at LSU Health in Shreveport for a Gastroenterology fellowship and where he was named chief fellow. This is just one of many honors including the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Award of Excellence, graduating at the top of his medical class. He also received the Dean's Commendation for High Academic Achievement during medical school. During his academic career Dr. Michael served as a teaching associate and tutor and participated in several research projects on Gastroenterology subjects and delivered both poster projects and oral presentations. Several additional projects focused on quality improvement processes. Dr. Michael is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians. In addition to work as a physician, Dr. Michael has provided planning and support for his family's international business and has also performed volunteer work in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Australia. Dr. Michael and his wife have two daughters. When not busy in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking and a variety of sports, including tennis, golf and basketball.
