Dr. Messana's path as a physician leader formally began when his medical school peers elected him student government president. He completed his dermatology residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Messana was then selected from an exceptionally qualified pool of applicants to complete an additional year of fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all diseases of the skin, hair, and nails, Dr. Messana has particular interest and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of skin cancer and specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction.
