Biography: Dr. Philip Petrou is a double-board certified physician in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry with honors from Harvard College and attended medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Petrou completed his residency in anesthesiology at Stanford University, where he also was a fellow in pain medicine.

She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and went on to complete fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. She has experience caring for both recreational and professional athletes, and has been a team physician for high school, collegiate and professional sports teams. She has a particular interest in running related injuries and injuries affecting female athletes.Dr. Sood's clinical practice focuses on the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, spine disorders and acute sports injuries. Her goal is to work with patients to restore function, reduce pain, and prevent future injury. By providing personalized education and a comprehensive treatment plan including detailed physical therapy and/or an exercise plan, she promotes anactive and healthy lifestyle. She is skilled in image-guided injection techniques using both fluoroscopy and ultrasound to precisely target the spine, peripheral joints, or soft tissue (tendon, bursa, nerve, muscle). Biography: Dr. Hermos is board-certified in Internal Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After a brief stint as a ski instructor, Dr. Hermos received her Master's degree in Education at The University of Colorado, Boulder. She was a classroom teacher in Denver for several years before moving to New York in 2000. Dr. Hermos worked in the non-profit sector before deciding to study medicine. Dr. Hermos attended medical school and trained in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She has now been practicing primary care in New York City since completing her residency in 2013.

Care Philosophy: Before joining the staff of Weill Cornell Medical Associates, Dr. Smerd worked as a primary care doctor at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital and at Odyssey House, a therapeutic drug community in Spanish Harlem. She was named chief resident after completing her medical residency at New York University. Dr. Smerd studied medicine at the Sackler School of Medicine/NY State program in Tel Aviv, Israel. She has also lived in Kathmandu and traveled the countryside of Nepal researching Vitamin A deficiency. She earned her bachelor's degree from Vassar College, where she graduated with a major in Women's studies focusing on Anthropology. Though originally from Pittsburgh, Dr. Smerd now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
