Biography: Dr. Smith is a board-certified general surgeon with Independence Surgical Clinic.He is from Central Missouri. He studied biochemistry at the University of Missouri Columbia, then attended medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, Dr. Smith was awarded the Golden Apple Teaching award as a Chief Resident.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Cummings firmly believes in always treating patients in the same manner you would treat your own loved ones, with a foundation based on the doctor-patient relationship and the understanding that a partnership is being formed in order to achieve the most optimum health and quality of life by way of surgery.
