Biography: Dix P. Poppas, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.P. is Chief of Pediatric Urology at the Phyllis & David Komansky Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is the Richard Rodgers Professor of Pediatric Urology in the James Buchanan Brady Department of Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Poppas has been a tenured professor with Weill Cornell Medicine as of April 2006 and holds joint appointments as Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well. His practice is limited to pediatric urology with special interest in genital reconstruction, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, intersex disorders and minimally invasive procedures for treating vesicoureteral reflux. Dr. Poppas has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery and pediatric laparoscopy. He was chosen as one of the "Top One Hundred Minimally Invasive Surgeons in New York" and was the only pediatric urologist to be selected.His practice is limited to pediatric urology with special interest in genital reconstruction, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, surgical aspects of disorders of sexual development and minimally invasive procedures for treating vesicoureteral reflux. Dr. Poppas has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery and pediatric laparoscopy. He was chosen as one of the "Top One Hundred Minimally Invasive Surgeons in New York" and was the only pediatric urologist to be selected and is listed as one of New York's Top Doctors and Best Doctors in America. He completed his residency in urology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical School (1990-1994) and his fellowship in Pediatric Urology at Boston Children's Hospital-Harvard Medical School (1994-1996) He serves as co-director of the Laboratory for Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery where his efforts are focused on developing advanced laparoscopic and Robotic surgical techniques for tissue reconstruction using novel tissue sealants to replace sutures and staples during surgery, as well as investigating the mechanisms and potential treatments for inhibiting and reversing fibrosis in the obstructed kidney using antibodies and gene therapy strategies. Dr. Poppas is a diplomate of The American Board of Urology, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been awarded The E. Darracott Vaughan Young Investigator Award by the National Kidney Foundation, The Edwin Beer Award of The New York Academy of Medicine, and was selected as an American Foundation for Urologic Disease/National Kidney Foundation Research Scholar. Biography: Dr. Izak Faiena MD, MSCR is a urologic oncologist with a specialized focus on prostate cancer. His expertise spans advanced diagnostic techniques, such as MRI fusion and transperineal biopsy, as well as cutting-edge treatments including focal therapy and robotic surgery. With a solid foundation from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, Dr. Faiena went on to complete his urology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he earned multiple research awards for his contributions to prostate and bladder cancer studies. Following his residency, Dr. Faiena pursued a fellowship in urologic oncology and earned a Master's in Clinical Research from the esteemed UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His work here garnered significant research funding and resulted in impactful publications on clinical trials in urologic cancers. Currently, Dr. Faiena is dedicated to advancing the field of prostate cancer through innovative clinical trials, targeting both localized and advanced stages of the disease. His groundbreaking research has been featured in top national and international medical journals, reflecting his commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing cancer care.

Biography: Cassandra Villegas, MD MPH is an Attending Surgeon at Weill Cornell Medical Center in the Division of Trauma, Burns, Critical, and Acute Care Surgery. She received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, where she was a President' Scholar and received the Teaching Excellence award. She remained at Stanford University as an instructor and doing neuroscience research before joining Teach for America to teach high school science in Los Angeles Unified School District for five years. There, she won the Most Inspirational Teacher Award before leaving education to attend Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. As a medical student, she completed her MPH at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, focusing on data outcomes research while diversifying her medical training at Guy's, King's, and St. Thomas's Hospital in London, England as well as the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland.She continued her outcomes research in trauma and health disparities before starting her general surgery residency at the University of Arizona. While there, she took 1st Place in the American College of Surgeons Resident Paper Competition and earned the American Association for the Surgery Resident Scholarship for her work her in trauma outcomes. She received Resident Educator of the Year twice, and was Awarded Resident of the Year at the Southern Arizona Veteran's Hospital. At the conclusion of her residency, she was awarded the Charles Putnam Chief Resident Teaching Award.Dr. Villegas then completed her Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowships at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, where she now serves as faculty and continues her research interest in trauma, emergency surgery, and global health surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Easter Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Surgical Outcomes Society.

Biography: Svjetlana Lozo MD, MPH is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialized in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive surgery (Urogynecology). Dr. Lozo completed her fellowship at University of Chicago and NorthShore University Health System. She provides patient centered medical and surgical care for women with urinary and bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fistula and pelvic floor trauma. Minimally invasive surgical approaches used in her practice are vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic and cystoscopic. Prior to her training in urogynecology, Dr. Lozo completed a Global Health fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital as well as a master's in public health at Harvard University. She is passionate about medical and surgical teaching locally and internationally, as well as utilizing a holistic approach to patient care. Dr. Lozo is actively involved in International Urogynecology Association, hoping to bring awareness to pelvic floor disorders both locally and internationally.

Biography: Ayodeji O. Nubi, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in open, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted general surgery. He completed his surgical residency training at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla and Advanced Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to arrival in the United States, Dr. Nubi completed a surgical residency in the United Kingdom.Dr. Nubi has specific advanced training in acute care/ emergency general surgery, trauma, and critical care in the surgical setting. He has been in established hospital-based and elective practice in Pennsylvania and New York prior to his arrival to Columbia University. He is a published author, most recently having contributed to the textbook Pathophysiology and Management of Thoracic Injury.As part of the Center for Advanced Surgery, Dr. Nubi sees patients at the New York-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital. He is known for his compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, citing "when patients return home feeling better than when they arrived in the hospital as the best part of being a surgeon". Dr. Nubi grew up in Nigeria, where he completed his undergraduate degree in medicine and surgery at Olabisi Onabanjo University. In his spare time, Dr. Nubi participates in tennis, soccer, and snooker- all sports he still actively enjoys.
