Biography: Dr. Porat serves as the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center and Houston Heart. Prior to attaining this position, he served as a professor with the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, the McGovern Medical School. Dr. Porat specializes in complex and high-risk cardiac surgery as well as complex aortic surgery. Biography: Dr. Almahmoud is a board-certified cardiologist specialized in general and interventional cardiology with interest in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and valvular/structural heart disease.Dr. Almahmoud has expertise in clinical research with interests in weight loss, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, valvular heart disease, atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). He completed two years of NIH sponsored clinical research fellowship and participated in several landmark clinical trials targeting atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease.His expertise includes advanced coronary interventions, peripheral vascular disease and structural/valvular heart disease. Biography: Dr. Pranav Loyalka is a board certified Cardiologist with Houston Heart in Houston, TX. Dr Loyalka began his medical studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then finished his fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr Loyalka is fluent in English, Hindi, and German.Dr. Loyalka is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) as well as Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Loyalka specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant, congenital heart disease, heart transplant, high-risk angioplasty, interventional cardiology, mechanical support and structural heart disease. In addition, Dr. Loyalka is a national leader in Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). This is a minimally invasive surgery where Dr. Loyalka replaces a failing heart valve without removing the old valve. TAVR is an important procedure because it can be used to treat patients who have an aortic valve thickening or narrowing, which is known as aortic stenosis. It can be an alternative for patients who are otherwise unable to be treated surgically with traditional open-heart surgery.Dr Loyalka has participated and led many clinical research, presentations, and publications throughout his 16+ year career.
