The patient should know the real risks/benefits of screenings, medications, and other treatments to make their own decision on what they would like to do. I think we get there by listening to the patient tell their story as over 80% of the time the problem is not detected by all of our blood testing and technologies but by having the patient explain their symptoms. I enjoy taking care of patients with more complex medical issues and being the ``Captain`` of their ship interpreting and prioritizing what their specialist physicians may be saying. The other important part of my practice is teaching young physicians and medical students how to practice the art and science of medicine.
