Biography: Dr. Robert Barry Lurate is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon caring for patients in Pensacola, Florida and the greater Escambia county area. Dr. Lurate received his undergraduate degree in Engineering from Mississippi State University and his medical degree from University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Louisiana State University. Dr. Lurate is a United States veteran. He was in the U.S. Navy Reserves assigned to the U.S. Naval Hospital Marine Reserve Center in Shreveport, Louisiana from October 1988 to June 1993. He also served on the United Nations Protection Force during Operation Provide Promise in Zagreb, Croatia. He has earned several Military Awards including the National Defense Medal. Dr. Lurate diagnoses and treats ailments affecting muscles, bones and joints, treating sports injuries, degenerative diseases and infections. He performs joint repair and replacement operations specializing in minimally invasive knee and hip replacements. He also has a special interest in minimally invasive spine fusion and disc replacement procedures.
