Biography: J. Conner Ryan, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacements at Texas Joint Institute in Dallas, Plano and Frisco. A Dallas native, Dr. Ryan attended The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill as an undergraduate and received his B.A. in History before earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After graduating at the top of his class, Dr. Ryan continued his education in San Antonio, where he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery, receiving a well-rounded education in musculoskeletal care. Finally, he completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he had the opportunity to train with leaders in the field of hip and knee replacement. Dr. Ryan has given several presentations and has been published for research in his field. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and Texas Medical Association. Dr. Ryan is married to an interior designer, with whom he has four children. He enjoys watching and playing all sports (notably golf), fishing, hunting, traveling, staying active, and spending time with his wife, Page, and their children.

Care Philosophy: At Texas Joint Institute our goal is simple: To take a rapid rehabilitation approach to wellness, with the purpose of seeing patients restored to optimum health and back to their daily lives as soon as possible. Minimally invasive surgery results in less pain, a faster recovery and a cosmetically pleasing outcome for our patients. In select patients, we offer total hip replacement as an outpatient procedure. This procedure is only being done in a few centers nationally.

Biography: Brian I. Nwannunu, MD, MS, is an orthopedic surgeon with Texas Joint Institute located in McKinney and Sherman, Texas, fellowship-trained in adult reconstruction and total hip and knee replacements. Dr. Nwannunu earned his bachelor's degree at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was part of the Morehouse College Honors Program. Upon graduation, he completed his master's degree in physiology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, with a concentration in complementary and alternative medicine. Dr. Nwannunu then graduated with his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.Dr. Nwannunu completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas, before pursuing additional training with a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Nwannunu spent time on a medical mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala to provide medical care and health education to populations in need.Dr. Nwannunu is affiliated with Medical City Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Center at Dallas and Medical City McKinney and their Joint Replacement Center of Excellence.He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Medical Association, National Medical Association, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated - Pi Chapter.When not working, Dr. Nwannunu enjoys basketball, weight training, attending art and music festivals, listening to jazz, traveling, world news, and reading.

Biography: Dr. Maale has more than 30 years of experience treating bone and soft tissue tumors, metastic bone disease, musculoskeletal infections, infected total joint arthroplasty and complex bone and joint reconstructions. Dr. Maale specializes in complex reconstruction of joints that have failed from previous surgeries, with a high percentage of limb salvage. He has pioneered several techniques for the treatment of infected joint reconstructions and is actively involved in the design of limb salvage implants for the hip, knee, shoulder and elbow.
