Biography: Dr. Haffey received his BA in Literature and Literary Studies in University of Colorado in 2002. He then obtained his DO degree in West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016. Biography: Dr. Darwin Chen is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, in the Leni and Peter W. May Department of Orthopaedics. He specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee as well as hip preservation. Dr. Chen received his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University. He earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. At Mount Sinai, he was selected as the administrative chief resident during his final year of residency, an honor bestowed by his mentors and peers. In addition, he received the prestigious Dr. Robert Sieffert Award three times during residency for his outstanding academic achievements and clinical excellence. Dr. Chen completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction/joint replacement at Rush University Medical Center, widely regarded as one of the top adult reconstruction fellowships in the country. At Rush, he trained with the pioneers and leaders of the field, including Drs. Wayne Paprosky, Aaron Rosenberg, Joshua Jacobs, Richard Berger, Craig Della Valle, and Scott Sporer. During his fellowship, Dr. Chen gained extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery as well as complex and revision arthroplasty. Following Rush, Dr. Chen completed further subspecialty training in hip preservation surgery as a part of a unique traveling hip fellowship at top centers in the US and Europe. He trained at Saint John's Health Center in Los Angeles with Dr. Joel Matta, Washington University in Saint Louis with Dr. John Clohisy, Schulthess Klinik in Zurich, Switzerland with Dr. Michael Leunig, and Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland. Dr. Darwin Chen specializes in hip and knee replacement, minimally invasive surgery, as well as complex and revision arthroplasty. He performs partial knee replacement, as well as direct anterior hip replacement using the innovative hana® orthopaedic table. In addition, he has a special interest in hip preservation surgery, performing periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) and surgical hip dislocation. Academically, Dr. Chen is part of the core teaching faculty at Mount Sinai, and regularly lectures and teaches at the orthopaedic residency program. Biography: Dr. Athanasios Dousmanis is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at CUMC. A general neurologist with specialty training in neuromuscular diseases, he is board-certified in general neurology and in electrodiagnostic medicine. He treats patients with a wide variety of neurologic disorders, including: dementia and Alzheimer disease, back and neck pain, epilepsy, migraine, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, myopathy, Parkinson disease, peripheral neuropathy, radiculopathy, stroke, tremor, and vertigo.

As a physiatrist, Dr. Leung specializes in spine and nerve disorders. With a special interest in cancer management and rehabilitation, Dr. Leung provides the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and continuity of care within the framework of Columbia University Iriving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian. He is devoted to expert diagnosis and treatment for improved patient outcomes and is committed to delivering state-of-the-art neurological care with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of patients and their families.

Care Philosophy: The cornerstone of my patient treatment philosophy is integrative care, of which surgery is but one component. I am committed to a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach to spinal disorders that might include deformity, tumor, trauma, spinal cord injury, and degenerative disease, and I tailor treatment plans to individual patients for optimal outcomes. For patients who require surgery, I don't believe my role ends after the procedure. I am interested in long-term outcomes following spinal surgery, and to that end I follow my patients long after they leave the OR, and I continue to utilize a team-based approach during the post-operative period.
