Biography: Dr. Rajeev Joshi joined North Texas Heart Center in August 2013. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Cardiac Imaging at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital in New York as part of the Columbia University System. His Advanced Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology training was completed at the University of California in San Diego. Dr. Joshi is proficient in all aspects of Electrophysiology including atrial fibrillation ablation, atrial flutter and PSVT ablation, and ventricular tachycardia ablation. In addition he implants pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, as well as, performs laser lead extraction. Dr. Joshi not only practices electrophysiology, but he is also board certified in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Joshi is multi-lingual and speaks Hindi, Urdu and Kannada.

Biography: Zalmen Blanck, MD, FHRS is board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Disease. He practices with Methodist Physiciand RiverCity CardioVascular.Dr. Blanck graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico School of Medicine in Mexico City. He completed his residency and electrophysiology fellowship at University of Wisconsin Mount Sinai/Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed his cardiology training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.Following his EP fellowship, Dr. Blanck served as director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory at Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center and as assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Between 1993 and 2014, Dr. Blanck worked with Aurora Cardiovascular Services/Aurora Medical Group in Milwaukee. He also served at the University of Milwaukee Medical School, Milwaukee Clinical Campus, until 2000 when he became a clinical Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health at Aurora Sinai and Aurora St. Luke's Medical Centers. From 2008 to 2014, Dr. Blanck served as director of Electrophysiology Services at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. He is currently a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society.His professional interests include the use of catheter ablation techniques and devices to treat cardiac arrhythmias. In his spare time, he plays classical guitar and enjoys outdoor activities including fishing and hunting.

Biography: Dr. Justin Taylor Saunders earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship, residency, and served as chief resident in internal medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Saunders completed extensive additional training. First, he finished his atherosclerosis and lipidology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston before completing his cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical School, where he served as chief fellow in cardiology. Then he remained at Michigan Medicine for his clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship, during which Dr. Saunders received the Golden Pacemaker Award as outstanding Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Her internship in Internal Medicine was completed at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas followed by a Fellowship in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. She stayed on staff at the Duke University Medical Center for 2 years and then joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Hurwitz is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Electrophysiology. She has served in the past as Chief of Cardiology at Medical City Hospital and is currently Director of the Electrophysiology Lab at Medical City Hospital, Dallas.Dr. Hurwitz is President of the North Texas Electrophysiology Society and has served on the board of healthcare policy for the Heart Rhythm Society and the Women's Leadership Initiative Task Force. She is currently on the board of directors for Heart Rhythm Society. In addition, she serves on the electrophysiology council of the American College of Cardiology.Dr. Hurwitz is a specialist in Electrophysiology (the study of normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms). She performs EP studies with radio frequency ablation, atrial fibrillation ablations, as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. Biography: Dr. Khaled Awad is a board certified cardiac electrophysiologist. Dr. Awad joins TCA as one of the nation's busiest and highly experienced physicians in the field of cardiac ablations. He offers extensive repertoire in complex interventions aimed at correcting heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Awad received his medical degree from the University of Mansoura, College of Medicine in Egypt. Dr. Awad pursued his graduate medical education in the United States. He completed his internal medicine residency program in Detroit at the Wayne State University / Detroit Medical Center, where he also served as a chief resident. Dr. Awad pursued his cardiology fellowship training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he also served as a chief fellow. While at that program, Dr. Awad partnered with the FDA committees to conduct research pertaining to the reliability of implantable cardiac defibrillators. His dream to pursue the highest level of training in the field of cardiac ablations, particularly the treatment of ventricular tachycardia, was realized when he joined the prestigious cardiac electrophysiology fellowship program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Awad joined faculty at the University of Alabama in Birmingham as an assistant professor where he continued to advance his research and teaching mission. Dr. Awad practiced at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for almost a decade where he developed a nationally acclaimed program for complex ablations. Dr. Awad published several papers in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and presented his work in prestigious journals and professional conferences. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at UCLA and his Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowships at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He has been inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and has also been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society. Dr. Reddy joined North Texas Heart Center in March 2019. Prior to that, he served on faculty at UT Houston where he was the Co-Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship and Associate Program Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship. He also was the lead faculty for the Electrophysiology teaching service and ECG training for fellows, receiving yearly teaching awards. He also opened and built several new electrophysiology sites to bridge gaps in care in various Houston communities, and he is working on similar endeavors in the DFW community.Dr. Reddy is proficient in all aspects of Cardiac Electrophysiology. In addition to routine radiofrequency ablation and implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, he further specializes in complex catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, advanced device and lead management/extraction, and implantation of appendage closure devices. He will primarily practice in the Plano and Frisco locations, but will also be active in Dallas and McKinney.
