Dr. Strutt relocated to Denver after completing two Fellowships in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando (Orlando Regional Medical Center) in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Strutt completed his General Surgery Residency at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Strutt received his medical degree from Saba University, and undergraduate degree from Northeastern University. Originally from South Africa, Dr. Strutt moved to the United States when he was in high school. Dr. Strutt specializes in colon and rectal surgery, with an emphasis on cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticulitis. He offers broad experience in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as traditional surgery. Dr. Strutt also performs colonoscopies and manages all aspects of anal rectal diseases, including hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, and fecal incontinence. Dr. Strutt has published and presented nationally on the surgical treatment of various colorectal diseases.

Dr. Modanlou's professional interests include all aspects of general surgery and complex problems of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas including minimally invasive techniques. He strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach to complex medical problems and personalization of the patient experience.

My passion for my field revolves my ability to participate in all aspects of colorectal cancer diagnosis, management , and cure. I enjoy doing colonoscopies for screening and surveillance purposes and I have worked hard to find the best care teams to make the experience as positive as possible. Specifically for my cancer patients, I strongly believe in a multidisciplinary role of guiding my patients with appropriate oncologist referrals, radiologic procedures, and treatment plans. This is a highly individualized process and my focus is to do treat every patient's situation uniquely as each patient has many factors relating to their diagnosis.With all my patients, I believe that the two most important things I can provide are compassion and empathy. My focus is humanizing the patient interaction to offer a safe and more comfortable environment for my patients. If I can accomplish that, I know that I can provide a successful and positive experience for my patients, no matter what the medical issue is.

When we are successful, these people can live good, healthy lives. I find that giving the patient time and respect are critical to developing a sense of trust, because it is a team effort with the patient in the center. Our goal at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center is to build a home for neuroendocrine patients, where they can feel comfortable that everyone has experience in this rare disease and all their questions can be answered. Dr. Zihni is a foregut surgeon who joined SurgOne and the Denver Esophageal and Stomach Center in October, 2018. Dr. Zihni has particular interest in esophageal and stomach surgery including anti-reflux surgery, surgery for achalasia, gastric or esophageal cancer, and gastroparesis. He is trained in minimally invasive surgery, and can perform most procedures laparoscopically or endoscopically. Dr Zihni has published extensively on outcomes of minimally invasive surgery, as well as the ergonomics of surgical platforms and educational strategies in surgery.Dr. Zihni was born and raised in Queens, New York. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University with a degree in biochemistry and completed his medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. As a medical student, Dr. Zihni completed an additional year of research as a Doris Duke Fellow at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he studied burn immunology. Dr. Zihni completed A general surgery residency at Washington University in St Louis, where he spent an additional two years of research studying ergonomics of surgical platform, robotic surgical education, and outcomes of foregut surgery. Dr. Zihni went on to complete a fellowship in foregut surgery at The Oregon Clinic in Portland, Oregon before joining Dr. Kurian, another Oregon Clinic graduate, in private practice. In his free time, Dr. Zihni loves reading, playing video games, exploring Colorado and traveling to other destinations, and spending time with his family.?

Dr. Kurian joined SurgOne in 2013 and specializes in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and hernia surgery. He has a special interest in disorders of the esophagus and stomach. He is the founder of Denver Esophageal and Stomach Center. He uses both flexible endoscopy (flexible camera through the mouth) and laparoscopy (camera through small incisions on the abdomen) in the management of these diseases. Dr. Kurian completed his medical schooling in Bangalore Medical College, India in 2001. After this he completed a general surgery residency in the United Kingdom, where he is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He moved to Philadelphia, USA to continue his general surgery training in Abington Memorial Hospital. He graduated from his training program in 2011. He has completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery of the esophagus and stomach and advanced flexible endoscopy.He is interested in the incisionless endoscopic management of surgical disorders. His research interests are in benign esophageal motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux and esophageal cancer. He has written extensively on POEM, which is a new incisionless surgical endoscopic procedure for patients with swallowing problems and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He is also involved in research directed towards improvements in surgical education of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery.
