Very knowledgeable and kind!
I was impressed with Dr. Payne. She reviewed my records and had knowledge of my issues before she ever stepped into the room. She was honest and caring about all of my issues. She addressed all of my concerns and offered some reasonable choices for treatment.

Not a good experience
I had an appointment with Dr Payne recently and found her to be very dismissive. She did not address many of the symptoms I had given to the fellow who was working with her. She seemed rushed and would not listen to any questions I had concerning my treatment plan, which did not address many of the symptoms that I have been experiencing. The fellow I saw was attentive and listened carefully to my concerns, Dr Payne did not. I’m not planning on returning to see Dr Payne again.

Dismissive
I had a horrible experience with this doctor. She was dismissive, in a rush and I left feeling discouraged and hurt. I felt judged and I felt like a number. I came to rule out an autoimmune issue at the recommendation of another doctor and before ordering and looking at any labs or asking me any questions I was told I needed to join an exercise class because I needed motivation. This is becoming a pattern for doctors who are overworked, forced to provide manualized treatment, and ultimately fail to deliver quality care.

Not knowledgeable or helpful
I have several rheumatological issues and recently moved to the area, so I was referred to Dr. Payne by my PCP. My previous rheumatologist provided a great deal of educational material on my condition. Everything Dr. Payne told me and the treatment she attempted to offer was in opposition to what had worked in the past. When I questioned her on this, she became defensive and said my tests showed that my diagnosis was wrong. I told her the previous treatment had been working, but she would not listen to me. I asked what diagnostic criteria she would use for one of my conditions, but she didn’t seem to know. It was the most bizarre medical appointment I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and find a more knowledgeable doctor.
