Worst medical experience ever
I attended several appointments with my Dad (patient). Dr Kirwan spends more time looking at the computer screen than interacting with the patient. She prescribed a medication that is used for individuals who have symptoms that include none of which the patient had…within 2 weeks of taking the medication the patient’s weight increased by 25 lbs, all water retention, causing congestive heart failure. Idk, maybe she prescribed the meds for something I don’t understand. She then scheduled a heart catheterization, which was no help in determining a diagnosis. She scheduled another procedure to determine if he had amyloidosis, results were inconclusive…she never suggested another test and was rude when we were walking out, saying “you better hope it’s not amyloidosis. Needless to say, my Dad and I found another cardiologist that we are very pleased with, although we lost a lot of time going to Dr Kirwan.

What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions
  • Long wait times

Two stars for surgery skill. Zero for remembering drug allergies, scheduling, aftercare and follow-ups. Her office lines often are busy, not busy as in you wait on hold or leave a message, but busy as a busy signal. If you leave a question for a doctor, the nurse will get back to you with an answer to a different question than you asked. I had backache when upright or walking too long. With confidence in a televisit, Dr. Kirwan told me it meant that was my heart not healing and not getting enough oxygen and that I should start slow release nitroglycerin, add an Ace inhibitor to my beta blocker and increase my blood thinner. I was not comfortable with all the drugs, so made an appt for stress test for evidence before medicating. Which I am cancelling today. My backache is a fractured spine which I walked around with for months til it got so bad I had an x-ray. Because I trusted Dr Kirwan's diagnosis and didn't consider backs can hurt for many reasons.
