Rude, obnoxious and arrogant.
Dr. Kaplan was the physician who did my colonoscopy when I was admitted through the ER at ABMC for suspected colon cancer. He was crude, cruel, asked my how I planned to pay for my admission because the hospital didn't accept my BCBS HMO and purposely sprayed water at my head while I was under sedation during the procedure (one of the other staff members told me after I asked why my hair was wet once I woke in on the PACU). I am usually very forgiving of health care professionals, because I am a registered nurse myself, but some actions can not be excused. I am fortunate to have survived my cancer, but I will never forget this physician's cruelty.

Thoughtful, Smart and Caring
Dr. Kaplan personally called and texted me about post-op questions and issues, and his team did multiple follow-ups to make sure I was doing okay. I have never experienced care like that from a doctor, and they made me feel like I was more than just a number on a screen. I am really grateful for their care and expertise.

Endo and Out
Had an endoscopy done. Dr. Kaplan came into recovery and spent a total of 3 minutes telling me what he discovered. I had just awoken from the procedure. I believe he gave me instructions of what to take over the counter but not sure. I asked the nurse for discharge papers with instructions and there were none. I hope this might help the good Doctor to spend perhaps 5 minutes with the next patient he sees in recovery and begins with an explanation of what he found, its cause and the treatment.

Dr Kaplan is the best GI doctor in our area
When I see Dr Kaplan he always listens carefully to what I have to say. I have had many medical procedures done by Dr Kaplan and I have been 100% satisfied. He was the only one who could cure me of a painful bile leak after gallbladder surgery. Other doctors tried unsuccessfully and Dr Kaplan was called. I would refer Dr Kaplan to anyone who needs a wonderful GI doctor.

Colonoscopy Procedure Review
I had my colonoscopy performed by Dr. Kaplan. Everything went as planned - painless and fast. The doctor visited before and after the procedure. He took his time, explained everything, and even provided a printout copy of the result. I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan.

After a failed colon surgery in Florida we came to Chicago to see if any options existed to repair the damage done from the two prior surgeries. Dr Kaplan perform the colonoscopy in concert with Dr Rantis, the surgeon, to see what could be performed to reverse the damage from the prior surgeries. After being hospitalized for a month in Florida for my prior surgery I was only in the hospital for two days following the repair surgery in Chicago. These two exceptional doctors gave me my life back. Thank you!
