Wonderful Human Being
Dr. Richard Michaelson was my mother's oncologist in 1984. Unfortunately her cancer was too advanced. Dr. Michaelson not only an excellent oncologist. But a WONDERFUL, CARING human being. It was the most difficult time of my life. He was the person who gave my family and I comfort. Because of the security he gave us. Knowing there couldn't be anyone that could have helped my mother any more than Dr. Michaelson did. I have many unusual request for my mother. Not wanting to have her on the cancer oncology floor was one. Another was not talking to my mother about cancer. He obliged me understandingly. I didn't ask him to lie. Just to not mention it. That was something that meant so much to me. I was the only one in my family who new all the real facts. He was totally respectful of my wishes. Without passing judgement. He never mentioned the inconvenience of having to make a special trip down from oncology to the floor my mother was on. He was always there. Even at the end he was with us..

BC is still in remission 17 years later.
I was diagnosed in 2007 with stage 3 breast. Dr. Rick's warm demeanor and his intelligence on all things related to BC made me feel more confident that I selected the right team to treat me. He explained complex treatment options and supported the good, the bad, and the ugly with clinical data. Not once did I feel he was pushing a specific manufacturer's drug. I appreciated that! Based on my tumor biopsy, blood tests, existing health conditions, etc., he tailored and we selected a treatment plan that would be best for me. 17 years later, I am still here. Thank you, Dr. Rick!

Kept Me Alive
Dr. Michaelson treated me after a mastectomy in 1990. He was consistently knowledgeable, warm and caring. When I experienced significant side effects, he worked with me to make viable alternatives. He said then, and I guess he's been proven true 30-some years later, 'We want you around for a long, long time. We'll make this work together.' Thank you, Dr. Rick!
