Terry Hansen, M.D., spinal pain specialist
Dr. Hansen left NM Orthopedics to work at Modern Pain and Spine, also in Albuquerque. I followed, and had my last ablation earlier this year. He left that practice to move to Superior Sports Medicine and Spine. I arrived there today for my ablation followup and was advised that Dr. Hansen never started there and "has left the country." That's all I know, and I'm left without recourse. I really liked Dr. Hansen and am shocked.

Waited over two hours past my appointment time to be seen by the doctor. He came in and immediately invalidated my pain telling me I was too young to have such bad damage to my hips, despite knowing I was an athlete and had been diagnosed with a separate condition that effects my mobility. Care was not taken to understand my specific issues and how they are impacting my quality of life. There were no follow up instructions given by nurses Or staff, and I left feeling confused if it was actually okay to leave. The doctor is nice in general, but I would not recommend the experience.

Total disconnect with scheduling department . Very disappointed with this offices’ communication. On top of having to wait outside in heat only to be told the appointment doesn’t exist. Pretty hard experience for a 90+ person with pain.

I have had an issue with my shoulder that 3 Dr. have suggested just doing exploratory surgery. Dr. Hansen has listened to my concerns and is diligently working on getting me back to normal through trigger point injections and PT. He is so knowledgeable and caring and has a wonderful bedside manner!

I saw Dr. Hansen to get an injection into my left hip using ultrasound (and not fluoroscopy) due to advanced arthritis and pain that would not go away for over 3 weeks. Great guy...very personable and highly skilled. The procedure was over in just a couple of minutes. Dr. Hansen next proceeded to give me advice on exercises I can perform to help prevent future flare-ups. I was pain free the next day. I’m going to take Dr. Hansen’s advice and work on the exercises he taught me. This gentleman really cares about his patients and wants them to maintain an active lifestyle. I highly recommend this physician for hip and lower back issues.

Injection for arthritis in hip joint. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I had several questions and he answered them all without seeming rushed. The 2 shots were not very painful much to my relief!

Dr. Hansen is very nice, thorough, and he does a good job of explaining things. His staff does not cooperate together and you’ll find appointments being mysteriously cancelled, appointments won’t be for months out, they just really know how to give you the run around. He’s a good doctor, his staff and schedule is most of the problem. Oh and be prepared to wait..
