Dr. William Flanagan, MD

I had a procedure done for what Flanagan said would alleviate blockage of my prostate on my ureatha. This is a procedure he recommended to me. Prior to having it done he was yelling at me like a football coach at halftime. I’m thinking what’s this all about! What he failed to tell me was that after this procedure I would never produce semen again, and that my libido would be nil. My last conversation with him I said, “you never told me that!” He closed the door and I haven’t seen him since. So, if I were you find another urologist.

I wanted to treat my prostate cancer using SBRT (high dose radiation therapy). This requires the insertion of a hydrogel material between the prostate and rectum to minimize damage to the rectum from radiation. Dr. Flanagan performed this procedure 5/10. On 5/12 I left his office a voice mail requesting a return call to discuss the level of pain I was experiencing. No return call. I sucked it up & eventually improved. Had an MRI on 5/24 which showed the hydrogel material did not cover ? of the rectal wall behind my prostate, potentially exposing the rectum to damage from radiation. Hard for me to understand why this happened as the procedure was aided by ultrasound. MRI also indicated I had a hematoma of the penile bulb, which I assume was the cause of my post op pain. On 5/30 sent Dr an email asking if the MRI findings were abnormal or concerning and why / how this might happen. Again, no response. Maybe his work wasn't an issue, but I'll never know due to his non-response.

Dr. Flanagan saved my life I was in kidney failure fever of 104 If it were not for Dr. Flanagan I would be dead. Now 5 years later I have nothing negative to say about him he is a GREAT Urologist.

Find someone else. Takes 3 months to get in to see this doctor. All they want to do is sell you surgery whether it's needed or not. Another doctor who has lost touch and doesn't care about his patients.

Had urolift procedure performed by Dr Flanagan. Less than a year later one of the staples pulled loose and is still inside me. Now need to have it retrieved and pull the remaining staple. This procedure is far from proven.

Although the urolift procedure was successful, I don't think Dr. and staff are good communicators. They should have prepared me for the aftermath of the procedure. No bladder control is possible after the removal of a catheter. They could have told me to be prepared with men's pads and lots of blood and pain. When the doctor proposed the procedure he said it would take 1 to 2 weeks to correct my prostate problem, after the procedure he said 3 to 4 weeks. There is mor that could be said but you have the idea.

Dr. Flanagan and his staff are so wonderful! He takes the time to listen to my concerns as a patient and addresses each issue with an easy to understand response. His nurse is so nice and so calming that any procedure done in his office I never worry about because she is so good at what she does! Every time I contact the office with a question or a prescription request I get a response that day. The entire staff at Regional Urology are also very pleasant and very welcoming. Highly recommend!!
