Care Philosophy: I realize there's a lot of anxiety surrounding a doctor's visit. I want to minimize that as much as possible. I want you to feel like you're talking to a person rather than feeling separated by titles. I do strive to provide a lot of information at our visits. My philosophy is that the more you know the fewer suprises you'll encounter. At the same time I try not to inundate you with facts. I've personalized handouts for my most common procedures so you don't have to memorize anything. It's also important to me that when you come to my office you feel part of the decision-making process. I can certainly advise on many aspects of medical care but I want you to feel in the driver's seat. I never want someone to leave my office feeling they've been talked into surgery.

What measures do General Surgery Specialists in VA take to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in their practice?
Patient data protection and privacy rights are a top priority for all healthcare practices. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires healthcare professionals to follow established safeguards to protect private health information and imposes penalties for those who violate privacy rights. HIPAA also allows patients to understand exactly how their health information is used and decide with whom it may be shared.
Healthcare systems also have rigorous digital security protocols to protect electronic health records, and any staff members with access to health information receive training on privacy practices to maintain patient trust and confidentiality.
