Care Philosophy: While pursuing my undergraduate degree in organismal biology at the University of Kansas, I was a wide receiver on the Kansas Jayhawks football team. This experience helped give me special insight and compassion for sports-related injuries. My approach to patient care is somewhat like what was instilled in me in playing football and other sports. I see my relationship with my patients as a team effort. My goal is that we make decisions together based on what they need and want from the care I provide.

Biography: Dr. Kesl is one of the few fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons in the Kansas City area. That means if you're critically injured in an accident and have several broken bones, he's the doctor who may be called in to help put you back together. During his fellowship with Wellspan York Hospital, York, Pa., he developed special expertise in the repair of complex long bone fractures, periarticular fractures, pelvic fractures, non-union of fractures, including grafting procedures, other complex trauma-related fractures, and general orthopedics. Dr. Kesl joined OSI following completion of his fellowship. He performed his residency in orthopedic surgery with OSI at St. Mary's Medical Center, Blue Springs, Mo. He completed his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Columbia College, Columbia, Mo.

Biography: Dr. Tisha Anyanike's interest in medicine began at a young age. "I found it exciting, and I am a caretaker, so that aspect also appealed to me," she says. Trust and honesty are key values in her practice. She explains, "I want my patients to be honest with me regarding their care and anything that is affecting their health." She loves building genuine connections with patients. "I like learning about patients' lives," she says. She particularly enjoys caring for the senior population. "They are like having a little piece of history in front of you," she says. In her free time, Dr. Anyanike enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and watching documentaries. She also loves 80s pop culture and likes playing trivia.
