I want patients to understand that the decision to undergo an operation should not be undertaken lightly and should be a last option after the failure of other conservative methods of treatment. The only "minor operation" is one being done on someone else. Treatment of pain conditions, particularly chronic conditions can be difficult and surgery is not always the answer. Often even with a surgery the most important factors for recovery include healthy habits, weight loss and therapy. I want patients to feel comfortable with their procedure and have all their questions answered prior to proceeding.
