He then served a clinical externship at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, England. From there, he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he received his doctor of medicine degree. Dr. Cruz completed a surgical internship and residency in Pennsylvania at Easton Hospital and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to complete his vascular fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.Dr. Cruz is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. Biography: Dr. Stephanian is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General and Vascular Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California in 1987, and his surgical training under the tutelage of the renowned academic surgeon John S. Najarian, M.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1993. He completed his additional qualifications in Vascular Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, and has been in private practice in Dallas since 1994. In 2001, he received an executive M.B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University. Dr. Stephanian has an extremely busy clinical practice of Vascular Surgery, with a special interest in varicose veins and venous surgery, as well as minimally invasive techniques for management of arterial disease. He is married, and has 4 daughters.

Biography: Joe K. Wells, III, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a native Texan originally from Austin. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he also completed his residency in general surgery. He completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 2000.Dr. Wells is board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He currently serves as Surgery Department Chair at the Heart Hospital of Austin. Dr. Wells specializes in carotid and lower extremity revascularization as well as the minimally invasive treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections. He has previously served as a medical missionary to Guatemala.He is an active member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Society for Vascular Surgery, Parkland Surgical Society, Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Desai received his Bachelors of Science in both Mathematics and Economics. He began his medical studies at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine earning his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Desai went on to complete his internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. Dr. Desai completed his fellowship in vascular surgery with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, SC. Dr. Desai has participated in widespread research and has been invited to speak at various medical symposia and conferences. In addition, Dr. Desai is an active member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of Vascular Surgeons, Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, and the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society. He completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Apple then served four years in the United States Navy where he served as a staff surgeon at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. During his time in the Navy he was deployed twice to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He is an active member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, Alpha Omega Alpha, the Society for Vascular Ultrasound and Parkland Surgical Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has received numerous teaching awards and published several papers in the field of vascular surgery. His special interests include the endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, the treatment of varicose vein disease and catheter-based procedures for arterial disease. Prior to joining CTVS, Dr. Apple practiced with Jackson Surgical Associates in Jackson, TN.

Biography: James C. Hayhurst is a native Texan, originally from Amarillo. He earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina and his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Upon completion of his internship and General Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee, he remained at the University of Tennessee for his fellowship in Vascular Surgery. He is board certified in both General and Vascular Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Following completion of his training, Dr. Hayhurst returned to his hometown of Amarillo where he served the community for 14 years. In 2011, he relocated to Dallas to be near his wife's family. He specializes in all aspects of vascular care for his patients, which includes non-operative/medical, open surgical and endo-vascular treatment of all vascular conditions. Dr. Hayhurst has been happily married to Debbie since 1988. They have 4 wonderful children and in his free time, enjoys being outdoors, fly fishing, skiing, cross fit, gardening and playing with his dog Ruby. He is also an avid musician and a member of a local bluegrass band.

Biography: Scott A. Seidel, M.D., F.A.C.S., R.V.T., is a native Texan who was born in Houston. After graduating from Texas A&M University, he earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, his vascular surgery fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center and his endovascular fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center in 2001. Dr. Seidel has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 2006. Dr. Seidel is board-certified in general and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a Registered Vascular Technologist. His professional interests include all areas of vascular and endovascular surgery with a special interest in catheter-based minimally invasive interventions. He is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, Society for Vascular Ultrasound, Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Seidel has authored numerous articles in the field of general and vascular surgery.

Biography: Kristofer Charlton-Ouw graduated from Vassar College in New York with a B.A. in History. After a brief career in the Netherlands working with a medical device company, he pursued his M.D. at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his general surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia University Medical Center in New York City where he served as the Administrative Chief Resident. He was a research fellow in cardiovascular surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. After completing his clinical fellowship in vascular surgery at Memorial Hermann Hospital and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, he continued on as a faculty member. As of September 2020, he will be Professor in the UT Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. He was Program Director for the UT Vascular Surgery Fellowship and Integrated Residency and Director of the Memorial Herman Heart and Vascular Institute's Vascular Ultrasound Laboratory. He is interested in clinical trials to improve evidence-based Practice, authored or co-authored over 100 journal manuscripts, book chapters, and reviews, and is the principle investigator of several sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials.His clinical and research interests include aortic aneurysm and dissection, prosthetic graft infection, hemodialysis access, peripheral arterial disease, and postoperative pain control. Biography: Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Ranan Mendelsberg earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After completing his residency in general surgery at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center, Dr. Mendelsberg spent two years at the University of Oklahoma pursuing his fellowship in vascular surgery. During his training, Dr. Mendelsberg studied cutting edge minimally invasive endovascular and open surgical techniques, used to treat the full spectrum of vascular disease. A member of the AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha) Honor Society and recipient of multiple teaching awards by medical students, Dr. Mendelsberg has been recognized for his academic achievements. During his rare free time, Dr. Mendelsberg can be found actively engaged with his wife and three children, playing a pick-up game of basketball with his friends, or tinkering with endless household projects.

Biography: John K. Politz, M.D., F.A.C.S. is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and his fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Politz has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 1996. Dr. Politz is board-certified in general and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Politz specializes in all aspects of open vascular surgery, particularly complex mesenteric revascularization and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. He also has extensive experience in exposure of the thoracic and lumbar spine. He has served as the program director for vascular surgery for the general surgery residency at The University of Texas at Austin since its establishment.
