Dr. Thomas Chopp, MD

I totally recommend Dr Chopp if you need shoulder or rotator cuff repair. He was very concerned to keep cost down since I was self pay. Dr Chopp was very thorough, reasonable and conservative with movements and therapy. He knows what he is doing! I should be able to get through this whole procedure without have to go to a PT. That is awesome!! Also highly recommend the doctor owned Treasure Valley Hospital!! They all were amazing!!! And so much cheaper.

Dr. Chopp performed an Arthroscopic Bankart Repair on my shoulder. He did an amazing job. I was in pain daily and not sleeping well before the surgery. Since surgery I haven't had any pain and am back to sleeping all night. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure and after care, and answered all my questions. Hopefully I never need another one, but if I do I will absolutely go back to Dr. Chopp.

In October of 2023 I had Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair by Dr. Chopp. As he explained the procedure to us, he took time to be very thorough, making sure we understood what was to be done. He allowed time to listen and also answer our questions. He explained the recovery time and physical therapy needed. We sensed his kindness and concern, even giving his personal phone number in case we had ANY questions. After being in pain for 4 months, Dr. Chopp met me in surgery and I haven't been in pain since! He is an amazing surgeon, we so appreciate him and the skills that he possesses. His staff are great to work with too. They are all ready to help in any way. Dr. Chopp replaced both my shoulders. He is the best shoulder surgeon in the area. He is caring and compassionate. The office staff is professional and create a seamless process.

Dr Chopp, his PA Kiira Vazales, and all of the staff at The Shoulder Clinic of Idaho are awesome! I had a torn biceps tendon and could not lift my arm over my head. I was recommended to Dr. Chopp by a friend who knew many surgeon's. I had a Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, SAD, DCE,Open Subcap Repair and BTE. All went exactly as explained and now I am pain free with very little loss as compared to my other shoulder. Dr. Chopp was friendly and proffesional and thorough and recognised where his skill and talent came from and gave god the glory when complemented.

In 2021 I had Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, distal clavicle excision, and extensive debridement done on my left shoulder and then in 2022 I had it done on my right shoulder. He put me at ease about the surgeries. I had been in pain for about 20 years and he was the first one to give me an actual reason why I was in pain and explained how it can be fixed. I would highly recommend him to anybody that has shoulder pain. After a few months of Physical Therapy, I can finally live pain free and do things I have not done in years. Thank you Dr. Chopp.

Dr. Chopp and his team are outstanding. I was impressed from our very first meeting. They are all very professional , skilled, and friendly. I damaged my shoulder in a fall and in a step-by-step process it was determined that only an operation would give me the full use of my shoulder back. Dr. Chopp assisted by his PA, Kiira, performed the operation which, because of the complexity of the damages, required 2.5 hours. My recovery has been virtually pain free and through their rehab guidance I have regained full use of the shoulder. The office staff mirrors the attributes of their professionals. The operation was conducted at the Treasure Valley Hospital and my experience there was equally impressive. Dr, Chopp has successfully provided the correct treatment for my shoulder pain issues, the Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty was the perfect treatment for me and the follow up care was fantastic and was catered to my personal progress. Because of the care I received, I am no longer in pain and I am continuing to gain my full range of motion and strength in my shoulder. I feel like I regained what i had lost. I found it very appropriate and amusing that I had a doctor named Chopp that was about to chop out my left shoulder joint and replace it in June of 2011. Yes, over 11 years ago and I am very happy to say that the job Dr.Thomas Chopp did on me that day is still going strong, good as new. I also have full use of my left arm. I have had many surgeries in my lifetime that didn't have a good result because I didn't have a doctor who had dedicated their career to one specialty of their field. Dr Chopp has and that's what makes him standout from the rest. I totally recommend him to anyone who is experiencing joint problems with the joints in their arm.

In May I had a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty with Dr. Chopp. The surgery was easy and completely successful. I have no pain, the rehab was a breeze and I was able to do it completely on my own, with instructions from the Dr. and staff. The results have far exceeded my expectations. I have recommended Dr, Chopp and will continue to do so.

Over 12 years, I have had total arthroscopy on my right (2010) and left (2022) shoulders by Dr Chopp M.D. Both surgeries were done in very professional manner with no complications. My right shoulder was a standard replacement. I have had it for 12 years, with full use and no pain or problems. Dr. Chopp followed me for over a year. I can truly say that he gave me back the use of my arm. He even gave me his home phone number so I could call him if I had problems. My left shoulder needed replacement. Because the rotator cuff was torn badly he recommended a reverse procedure. This was accomplished with no problems. At 12 weeks now I have full use of the shoulder with no complications and no pain. Recovery was fast and with minimal pain. Dr.Chopp is easy to work with. Self-effacing, without the arrogance that is sometimes found in doctors. He cares about his patients, is very knowledgeable, and is seen in this area by many patients as the best shoulder surgeon in the Treasure Valley.

Dr. Chopp performed reverse shoulder surgery June 2022 for my wife. He did a fabulous job keeping us informed during the healing process and let us know what outcome to expect. Many kudos to treasure Valley Hospital for their part! We would recommend Dr. Chopp.

Dr Chopp knows shoulders. I had osteoarthritis which is treatable with pain meds, but isn't the permanent solution. I put off replacement surgery for several years, then COVID hit and changed the ethos of many hospitals, including my favorite where knee replacement was done 7 years ago. Found Dr Chopp through my daughters business and called for an appt. Got in within the next 2 weeks! First visit was a scream (no pun intended) as he told me straight up that I could go the shot route for pain management, but ultimately I'd only be kicking the can down the road until I had a replacement. He explained the process quite thoroughly, as I had researched it online. Got surgery date set about a month later. Surgery went exactly as he said. Follow-ups were great. Did physical therapy per his instructions at home, and 4 months later, i have great range of motion and very little stiffness. Loved it when he told wife to serve me breakfast in bed for first 3 wks. Great sense of humor!

This was the 3rd time Dr Chopp performed surgery on my shoulders. I've bee pleased with the outcome of all 3 surgeries. This one was necessary because of progressing osteoarthritis and torn rotator cuff muscles. Dr Chopp and Kiira Vazales P.A.-C. are personable, easy to work with, and positive in their attitude. They are thorough in explaining processes and encouraging questions. Appointments are never hurried. Dr Chopp personally followed up by telephone a day or 2 after surgery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this team.

I, Thomas Fisher, had the total shoulder Arthroplasty on 06/30/2021. I cannot believe how quickly I recovered from the surgery, after all I'm 87 years old. It was a day surgery and my recovery was complete. No more pain and full use of the shoulder/arm.
